I know anything helps in conceiving but I was wondering if anyone else is trying chinese accupuncture and herbs to help with conception and possibly conceived using this method.
I have been doing it a month now and find its helping with menstryal regulation and noticing normal temps when charting. IM crossing my fingers but the accupuncturist said I need to wait three more months to try to concieve to get a healthy pregnancy.

Hi, I'm new here and mostly a lurker, but I felt I should post an answer to your question since I've been going to an acupuncturist and taking chinese herbs. I've been going to my acupuncturist since about May or June of this year. I started going to help regulate my cycle since I was irregular and had cycles of 60+ days. I had 6 acupuncture treatments a month plus herbs for the first 3 months. In addition to that I started temping. My cycle went to 35 days in the first month and has been regular (34-36 days) ever since. I've just been taking herbs for the last few months and I've continued to have success with them, in terms of regulation. This is our first official month TTC, so I can't say how helpful they will be in that respect, but I consider them a great help since they are the reason why I'm regular and seem to be O'ing every cycle.

Hi,
When I was trying to conceive my son, I did nothing except prenatal vitamins for the first 10 months after I had 2 D&Cs in Jun 04. I started taking herbs a natroupath had given me
I've seen some of you were able to regulate your cycles using acupuncture. I am having a huge predicament with cycle regulation after bc and am wondering if I should try acupuncture.
Anna, you say you were experiencing 60+ day cycles. I am there, cd 52 and no O. It's been 6 mos. off bill, so I'm thinking my body should have regulated already. How much does acupuncture cost? And did you specifically find someone that does accupunture for pregnancy?
If anyone has any info. I'm very interested. I have pretty good insurance but I am guessing this isn't covered. How often do you go? etc. I feel like if I could just get my cycles to be normal I might have an honest shot of getting a BFP. I have also heard vitex is good for regulating cycles and have been taking it 4-5 months. So far, I can't say how much it has helped... I am all for the natural approach in getting my cycles back in order.
hi
Im not sure how much it cost where you live but most insurance do cover accupuncture. I go to a accupuncture school and they have clinics wednesdays and saturdays and its only 25 dollars. and there is a specialist who works with them by their side so the specialist always have final answer and does the proceedure so its like seeing the specialist but at a low price. One thing i have to say is the benifts so far is im sleeping so much better and have so much more energy.
Good luck with your search and I hope you find someone and somehting to help you out with ovulation.

bb80 - I have been irregular ever since my periods started. I know that's typical in the first year or so, but mine were very painful (think: I had to stay home from school, crying on the couch, no OTC meds would help painful) and never regulated. I went on BC at 19 for about 5 years, until right before I got married. I was always regular on BC (of course, that's what it's for, right?), it was less painful, etc. I went off of them because I knew it wasn't healthy to be on them long term and well, I just didn't want to be on it anymore. After going off them I was regular for a time, then started getting long, irregular cycles - 2-3 months or so but the cramping pain was manageable. At the beginning of this year, they started to get painful again as before and I knew my doctor would just want to put me back on BC, which I did not want. I did a lot of reading about acupuncture and menstrual cycles and searched for an acupuncturist in my area who specializes in that. She actually specializes in infertility, but said she could help me just regulate and reduce the pain. For the first 3 months I went 6 times a month and started temping the 1st month. The times I went were centered around various phases of my cycle. I also started taking 3 different Chinese herbs, also at various phases. After the third month, I decided to try just the herbs since I was feeling much better, cycles were consistent 34-36 days and my pain was negligible. It's been working for me for about 6 months total. My insurance doesn't cover acupuncture, and it was $79/hr each visit. The herbs run me about $100 a month. Not cheap by any means, but I'm happy with who I go to and I'm happy with the results, so it's worth it for me. Just for reference, I live in Southern California, it may be cheaper in other places.
I would definitely recommend acupuncture/herbs if nothing else has worked for you. I know it's expensive, esp. if your ins. doesn't cover it. The one thing to remember is to be comfortable with whoever you choose to go to. You will be discussing intimate details about yourself with this person in addition to having them work on your body. It's important to balance comfort, experience and price.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
