Ok so while i am not TTC, I am on acne meds that keep my face until control. Now that I am TTC, I am off all meds and am not using any topicals. I wash with Benzoyl Perioxide soap (which is ok during pregnancy). Anyway, my face is a freakin MESS!!! Anyone know anything you can take or any home remedies that might help? I look like I'm 16 years old....worse actually.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

So the problem with dermatologists is, they are educated in skin physiology-not reproductive toxicity.
Even most OBs don't know as much about teratology as I personally think they should. I read on these boards that OBs say it's "Safe" to use salicylic (for example). I find that shameful. There are PROVEN LINKS to birth defects-so for anyone-especially a caregiver-to use the word "safe" is completely irresponsible.
The fact of the matter is salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, aloe vera, rosemary, and a laundry list of other ingredients have been linked to birth defects in published medical research. It's a Fact. Period. End of Story.
So, they questions is: are we willing to take the risk? Even if the links
Thanks for all your replies ladies! It helps to know others are going thru this crappy acne stuff as well! I know it is all for a bigger purpose but it still majorly SUCKS!!!!! I feel so embarassed to even go out of the house and have been wearing heavy makeup and a hat for weeks. Today my 22-month old son pointed out one of my zits and said "boo-boo?"...
Anyway, b/c my acne is cysic acne due to hormonal changes, soaps aren't really making a difference. I need DRUGS...lol. So FYI: any Catergory B topicals/drugs are safe to use during pregnancy. Topicals-
Although, It would be nice to not have to deal with it at all, huh?

I went tanning once 2 weeks ago (10 minutes in a stand up bed) and it was a good temporary fix. It really dried up the break outs. Unfortunately its not a long term fix but I figure if I go once every 2 weeks its not the end of the world.
Keep in mind - I'm not pregnant yet. I didn't think tanning was recommended during pregnancy but my friend was having horrible break outs during her pregnancy and her doctor actually recommended that she tanned every once in a while.
Just thought I'd share, I know, I know, tanning is evil :)
