Allergy med safe when TTC?
| Thu, 08-21-2003 - 11:50am |
Are there any allergy meds that are safe when TTC? I have terrible symptoms and really need to take something. What about Tylenol allergy and sinus? I know Tylenol is safe when you are pg, but has anyone heard anything about Benadryl (sp)? DH takes alfalfa tabs for his allergies and swears by it but it never helps me.
Thanks,Lisa (((HUGS)))
Also, tylenol comes in a nitetime formula to help you sleep. Has anyone heard anything bad about taking that?

Good luck!

When I was pregnant with my ds (now 4 years old), my OB/GYN said the only safe allergy med was plain Sudafed. I would stay away from Benadryl because it carries a risk (although rather small) of causing cleft palate. I also recently found a website that explains the pregnancy risks of virtually all medications (prescription and over the counter). The web address is www.perinatology.com. Look under the menu for "drug exposures". All drugs are catagorized with a pregnancy danger level of A, B, C, D and X. Tylenol and othe reasonably safe drugs are generally catagorized an A or sometimes a B. Drugs catagorized C, D and X are typically more dangerous to the baby. Some of the info is written in "medicalese" but most of it is easy to understand. I hope this helps!
