any advice on this chart?

Hi Ladies,

Any info on the 2 temp drops yesterday and today? The only thing I can think of is that I haven't slept well so I have been awake but laying in bed for 1/2 to 1 hr before temping. But wouldn't that cause a temp to RISE? My reasoning being that I am awake and therefore tossing and turning a bit so I am moving and should be raising my temp.

Also, am I out of the game this month? I am going to test again on Sunday (18DPO) as long as AF hasn't come. This is only my 1st month trying and my 2nd month off of BCP so I don't even know when AF is due. My last cycle was 47 days!

I am just so emotional about this I am getting consumed by it! I can't think of anything else. Any advice would be very helpful (on the chart or how to handle my emotions)!

Thanks in advance,

H.

Hi Connie,

Thanks for your reply. I guess I knew that the temp dip meant that AF was coming, I was just hoping that someone would come back with a comment that the same thing happened to them and then 2 days later they tested positive! Irrational, I know, but that's the state I'm in these days.

I think next month I'm going to just use an OPK and not temp - temping seems to have turned me into a crazy woman. I've gone from "whatever happens, happens" to waking up early on a Saturday and trying not to move as I reach for the thermometer so that I don't get a false BBT reading! Same thing happens to me when I chart my weight loss, I get obsessive. I'm an engineer by trade so I tend to make spreadsheets and chart things and this chart isn't linear, logarithmic or even rational. I can't even manipulate the numbers into giving me the result I want (believe me I've tried!).

Ok AF, you old hag - just show up already so I can get over this teary feeling and get on to next month.

You know, we started TTC when we did so I wouldn't be pregnant in the summer! Fat lot of good that did - it's looking more and more like I'll be pregnant ALL summer! That is unless it takes me longer than a few months - but let's not talk about that.

I need chocolate.

Thanks again,

Heather

I'm not laughing that your chart looks like you're in for a visit...I'm laughing because I went through the same darn thing when I was temping!! This is how my mornings went when I was temping...

530am...don't move, but reach blindly over to the nightstand, grab the thermometer, and take your temp. Try very hard not to fall back to sleep, as this may cause the thermometer to fall out of your mouth, or possibly break.

6am...find out where you dropped that darn thermometer and check the temp. Hopefully the cats didn't snag your pen...or thermometer for that matter!! (and of course...if the temp was low, maybe I need to add extra blankets on the bed!!)

Bedtime...shake that thermometer down...crap, broke 2 of them. Now try to clean up the mercury so the animals don't die. It's now rolling under the bed. Don't cut yourself either...that glass is sharp.

Ok, bought a digital...

530am...same routine...except the beeping wakes you up if you fall asleep. It does not wake up DH, as he can sleep through almost anything. It wakes the dog up. Now she has to go out. It's too early. Now she's whining. Now she's stepping on DH's face. Now he's awake, and not very happy. (works 2nd shift) Now I have to get up and go out into the cold to take the dog out!!

Hence...I QUIT TEMPING!! :)

Maybe I should invest in an OPK...I've never checked them out, so I don't know how to work them or how much they cost.

Anyhow, hope this brightened your day!!

Yes, your temps should rise if you are staying in bed awake for that long, not drop. Your temps are above cover, so you are still in the game. However, I'm sorry to say it does look like AF is on the way. No advice on how to keep the reins on emotions. You are just starting out, so try not to worry too much. It is easy to get consumed by charting, analyzing every dip and rise. Just try to use it as a tool no matter how the cycle turns out. If it is a major problem, then continue charting but don't spend a lot of time on message boards/chatting about other people's charts, etc. It might be helpful to take up a new hobby (knitting some boots for that upcoming baby?).

Good luck!

Hi Connie, Kel and Chanda,

Thanks for all of your replies - it really helps knowing that other people are going through the same things. I think I just got a little overwhelmed with all of this and I haven't been putting things into perspective. Right now TTC is just part of my life, not the whole thing! If I make it the whole thing then I'm just setting myself up for disaster. Deep down I'm still hoping that my charts will spike up and I'll be testing positive in a few days but I'm okay with the fact that I probably won't. I better accept it huh? I mean what other choice do I have. My hubby told me to just take my temps, record them and then not look at it all day. If only it were that easy!

So tomorrow no posting for me! I will do my work (all of it that I blew off today because I couldn't concentrate) and I will celebrate AF when she comes because it's really just a fresh start.

Thanks again,

Heather

PS - one more thing to stress about...I forgot that I have a tipped uterus - anything special that we need to do for that? I heard the whole BDing in other positions except missionary and lying still on your belly for 30 minutes - does that really help or is that an old wives tale?
