Anyone else told to test later?

Morning ladies!

When I went to my yearly OB/GYN check up earlier this cycle I told her this was the first cycle we were TTC #1. :)

She put me on prenatal vitamins and gave me a time frame for extra baby dancing!

She also said that since my cycle was 27 days on average, that she wanted me to test on day 29.

I have been following this board for about a month and it occured to me this probably wasn't the norm since I didn't fit into the 2 week wait...1 week wait..sections as easily.

I realize that testing later like this could save $ since I would already have AF if she was coming and wouldn't test too early.

But I was just wondering if anyone else was told to do this?

I know you guys understand that waiting is so hard!

Thanks!

Syl :)

That is so funny because I just got back from the doctor (new doc meeting, just happens to be at 8DPO), and she said that I shouldn't test until a week after AF is due. My cyle ranges from 24-27 days and she said I should wait until Aug 24th to test. I live in Europe, so maybe they are just more concious of waste here (time, money, tests, yadda, yadda, yadda). I am going to stick by my FF recommendation of testing on Aug 17th. Technically AF would be 1-3 days overdue anyway.

I don't see anything wrong with testing early, as long as you have enough tests (I have some cheap ones from the internet) and you can handle many possibly false negatives. Besides, that could soften the blow for when AF shows up (LOL).

Good luck with your BD schedule! And it never hurts to throw some extra in there just for fun (it helps to take your mind off of the wait).

I'm sending baby dust your way!

I was never told to test at a certain time, but after being burned by a few BFN's, you start wanting to wait until after AF is overdue, to avoid the heartache. But if you want to test earlier, it doesn't hurt anything - except your pocketbook!
