Hi ladies,

I'm new to this board and a little nervous. My DH and I have been ttc for a while now. And I thought I was pg last month, I took a HPT and one showed up - and the other +, so I was a little confused so I called my doctor to have HCG test and it came back - :(. I made an appointment with the doctor and she put me on prenatal vitamins to help me. However, I'm having the same symptoms as m/s, could I be pg?, but its kind of funny that 2 days after starting the vitamin, AF came to visit for 3 days which is uncommon. I goes what I'm trying to ask is if anyone has had the same symptoms?

Looking for some direction.

The vitamins won't do anything at all as far as giving you any type of symptoms...but the three days you were speaking of, was it heavy bleeding? If it wasn't as heavy as usual, it could be implantation bleeding. Or...with two of my kids I bled just enough to think my period was coming, and felt all grouchy and crampy..but was pregnant after all. I also had a positive home pregnancy test with my son, it was very early, maybe five days before I expected my period. hee, hee...you know how it is when you're anxious. I was checking because I was ttc. And went to the doctor for a test as soon as it was positive...and their urine test was negative even the blood test was negative if I remember right. But..I was pregnant, just early. The next week they showed positive at the doctor too. So...maybe you are!! If you are...you have to let us all know. It is good that you're taking the vitamins. When you do get pregnant, or if you already are, they aid in development and also have a less chance of birth defects if you are already on them. Least that's what my doctor says... we're ttc #4. Good Luck!! Amanda

I don't think taking a prenatal vitamin would cause AF to arrive.

I just saw my OB/GYN yesterday & got the green light to TTC & he suggested that I start taking over-the-counter prenatal vitamins. He said if they're not prenatal, at least a multi-vitamin with folic acid in it since folic acid helps prevent neural tube defects (ex. spina bifida). I started taking prenatals this morning since I'll be 'o'ing around the 28th. Another thing I've heard is drinking a glass of OJ a day, that's got folic acid in it as well. Folic acid is VERY important during pregnancy. I figure it won't hurt to take it, so I'm adding it to my daily routine. Hope that helps.

Definitely get a prenatal. Depending on the folic acid in it (at least 400mcg) you may beed to add a folic acid pill, too. The neural tube is formed and done with before many women know they are even pregnant, so it's very important to start this while TTC.

Amanda,

Thank you so much for responding, your story is very encouraging. Anyway, to answer your question as to whether I had heavy bleeding, the first 2 days were very very light and the 3rd day it was like I was having my period and then it stopped, so I just wrote it off as having AF visit me - it wasn't normal. And after that incident, I've been feeling very tired throughout the day. My doctor did tell me that if AF didn't come by Aug 20th, that I should get another test, so I've been thinking about. I'll keep you all posted.

Good Luck to you and DH on ttc #4
