Anyone using Clearblue Easy Fert Monitor

Hello all. My name is Julie (29), DH (30) married since 11-2-02 and we've been ttc #1 not long (this is our first month actually trying) and my question is, anyone using this monitor that costs around $200.00 depending? I just bought one from Ebay for $125.00 (got lucky) and this is my 6th day off AF and the monitor signaled me me to test today (cd 6 32/34) and it tells you when your at your peek fertility throughout your cycle and of course I knew it would be low just coming off AF yesterday, but has anyone used this and if so, gotten pg after it detected your ovulation days?

I've been off the bcp for about 5 months now after being on them for about 11 yrs. and I've had periods every month since I've been off, but they are kind of irregular (some what more regulated now, AF seems to come from 32-34 days) I am definatly NOT a 28 day cycle coming off the bcp anymore (which sucks!)

Anyways, last month I had a period on July 19th and figured I must of ovulated around the week of Aug. 4th - 9th (I covered the whole week BD since I was not sure which day I would ovulate, but I had no symptoms of ovulation, no cm, no discomfort, nothing) We even BD the whole week after to be sure we didn't miss ov and I don't think I ovulated last month even though I had a period, which is normal I heard, you won't always ovulate if you have a period. Anyone else experience this with using the monitor, not showing any signs of ovulation after AF? I think this monitor they say is about 99% effective in showing your five most fertile days when it tells you to start testing your urine with the test sticks.

Please e-mail me back if you've used, are currently using or have used and conceived with this dandy little machine. So far, this is only my first month using it, I just got it soon after AF arrived so I wouldn't be ov'ing most likely until the week of 9-8 if I'm on a 34 cd.

Also, anyone else have a regular peroid each month and still no ovulation and doc put you on Clomid? That is my last resort if this monitor does not show any ov all month.

Thanks all.

Julie

Hi Julie,

Logan here. This is my second cycle using the monitor. Last month it showed high and peak. It may take the monitor 1 - 2 cycles to get to know you, atleast that is what the book says and I have heard it on this board as well. Last month I also used OPK's to track Oing, just as a back up. This month I am going to do that as well. Like you I do not want to take the chance of missing that eggie. If the monitor does not show high or peak fertilty signs that doesn't mean you did not O, it just means your LH surge and estrogen levels are too low for the test stick to read it. Are you charting?

Logan,

Hey, thanks for the response. Well if this is your 2nd cycle using the monitor, did you notice last month when you were ov'lating? I just had all my horomones and thryoid testing last Friday and everything came back completely normal so I'd think that I'd show the LH surge if there was one for that month. You said the first time using it that it showed your high fertility, did you also notice cm to detect ovulation as well? Do you think the monitor was accurate in detecting your high fertility and did you db on the high fertility days? Most people get pg I heard the first or second time of use, depends on the person I guess.

I am not charting as I want to see if I get results using this first, this is only our first "real" month trying so if I go this cycle again without ov'lating, I will ask my doc for Clomid as I only have about 4 months to get pg due to insurance reasons so, I hope we can if not, we obviously won't be able to control that.

Thanks again.

Julie

Hugs and good luck!

Hi Julie,

I have used CBFM for both of my pregnancies. For DD almost 2 1/2 years ago (conception date) and now for Baby#2 on the way, edd 5/5/04. Both times it took two months.

Both times I used the monitor, the "computer" had to get to know my cycles again. I am very regular and the monitor gave me the PEAK sign as soon as it detected the LH on each of the second months ACCURATELY.

What time do you plan on testing each day? For any OPK, you should not use FMU. Late morning to early afternoon is best. I only learned this recently, but still was able to conceive fine.

Good Luck...Hope this helps!!

Julie,

This is my first month using the monitor. We've been trying for 14 months. I've had a blood test for the thyroid etc., DH has been checked and he's normal, I've been charting since I started ttc and I thought I would try this before I had a HSG. On the 6th day my monitor read low and I think it read low two or three days then for four days it read high. I'm sorry I forgot to add that it asked to take a test on day 6 also and everyday until the first day I went from Peak back to High. Okay four days at high then two days at peak next high and I didn't have to test anymore. I just turn on the monitor now every morning and see what it has to tell me. My AF should be here next week, as you can tell I come to expect them now every month. I have a question for you. Do you know if the chances are greater to conceive if you BD as much as you can during 0 or should you wait like 24 hours? I'm telling you my DH is getting really tired of it. I just don't want to miss any chance. I'm 28 and my DH is 29. I have wanted a baby for years and it took him 5 1/2 years for us to get married and we've been trying like crazy. GL to you! dd c14 cd18

Hi Donna,

Thanks for sharing your advice and help. Well, I just bought this monitor my only fear is that it asks me to start testing on cd 6 (thats today for me), I just came off AF yesterday (cd 5) and this morning it asked me to test so I did and of course just coming off, I knew it would be low fertility but my cycles are usually 32-34 days give or take and my question to you is, if I started testing on day 6 and I'm assuming that it will ask me for to test everyday after that for 10 days right? But, if I ovulate around cd 21 (since my cycles are longer than 28 days--34 for me) I'd think the monitor would stop testing too soon and I'd miss my peak. If this is all correct with my cd, I would need to continue testing until Aug. 12th (Aug. 11th would be ovulation day for a 34 day cycle). Can I still test beyond the 10 days without it asking for a test or do I have to go out and purchase a kit to finish testing the rest of my cycle until this monitor gets to know my cycle length? Since you've used it twice, I thought you might know the tricks or facts about it. I test in the morning, first urine around 9 a.m. (my window is from 5:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.) should I be testing before Noon you think? The booklet it came with also said first urine. What difference would this make I wonder? I'd think that without having drank anything from all night it would be most concentrated first thing. Let me know what you think.

So all in all, you were happy with it? It showed the most fertile five days? Gosh, I hope using this only takes us two months, maybe it would happen next month after my cycles register. Also, each month does the monitor ask you to start testing on day 6? Does the monitor the following cycle pick up that my cycle goes beyond 28 days so that it won't ask me to test as early as cd 6 if I don't ovulate until cd 21?

Thanks for your reply Donna.

HI DD,

Well, as I said, my first time using this thing too. I think you should bd like crazy everyday that it says you have high fertility! How many days in between your cycles? Like I said, mine are about every 32-34 days. Do you have 28 day cycles and did the monitor tell you high fertility around days 12-16 for you? Also, do you use your first morning pee to do it? My "testing window" is from 5:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. so I usually do it around 8:30 a.m. or so each morning. Do you find this monitor effective so far? You do not think your pg then even though it indicated your most fertile times, I'm assuming that you bd the whole time it said you were most fertile right? You don't think anything? If you're a 28 day cycle then you most likely would of o'lated on cd 14 right? Is this about when the monitor detected your ov? You're only a few days past ov if you did indeed ovulate this month and it be WAY too soon to tell. Also, you can still conceive a day or two after ov (if you didn't know that) so hopefully you bd on cd 12-17 to be sure, if not, do it TONIGHT, it most likely it would be too late if you did ov on cd 14-15 but you never know, if you do end up pg please, please e-mail me and let me know. When is AF due to start again (hoping you don't get it)???

Keep me posted and if you can help with some questions about your testing this month, it would be great. We are in similiar situations as I am 29 too and was dating my hubby for about 4 yrs. before we got married too. We really want a baby now as well and let's keep our fingers crossed that this is the month for both of us.

PS. where are you from? I don't remember if I posted it, were from MI.

Talk to you soon,

Julie

I think thats fine, are you up at early??? My god! Yea, if it's your first morning pee I think it's fine, the booklet says to do it at a time good for you so I'd think anytime is fine as long as it's within that window.

I am using the monitor. This is my 2nd month. The monitor will have you start peeing on the stick at day 6. Then it will go either 10 or 20 days for you to test. It showed me a peak day, 2 of them both months. Plus I am charting too. That might help you as well. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Sams:

Thanks for helping with my question.

Oh wow, your also in your third month of Clomid ah and using the monitor? Did you think the monitor was accurate when detecting ovulation? Did you have some or lots of CM? Why did you doc put you on Clomid? Were you not ovulating? Did you have regular periods each month? I am having periods each month after discontinuing the bcp but I do not think I ovulated last month (no signs at all) so this is another reason why I bought the monitor to see if this month I will ovulate and if not, my doc said she will put me on Clomid.

Most ladies seem to get pg on Clomid first and second month--good luck to you. Do you like Clomid? Any strange side effects? Do you like the monitor and feel it's helping? One more question if you don't mind, being on the Clomid, do you have to get an exam done or rather ultra sound each month your on it see if the follicles are growing to produce the eggs? Just curious.

Thanks for your help.

Julie
