Anyone worried about the world?

So today was a sad day at my office.... we've already cut back our hours, and today, the first person got laid off. I came home to tell DH this, and he got quite emotional. We then had a discussion how he's worried

Kate's right, i think men worry more about this thatn women. i am a HUGE worrier about financial stuff, but not when it comes to babies and like that. FOr some reason, i did not /do not worry at all when it comes to kids. it is pretty much animal instinct - you make them, you raise them, done deal.

worried about the world? if you mean politics and mean people and stuff liek that,. i am not worried about that either. our kids can make their own path in the world and it will be a good one.

worried about having enoguh for them - there is always enough, always a way. even when destitute, there is a way.

funny how i come across as an optimist, i am THE BIGGEST pessimist in the world.

and yes, this might be a first child thing. it is the great unknown. you will see things fall into place after your first, and even more if you have more after the first.

GL!!

It's something I do worry about to some extent, but I don't let it get overwhelming.

OMG - YES!! I totally worry about this, and I seriously thought I was the only one! Especially after kids started making fun of my DD (she's a bit cross-eyed every once in a while, we're looking into it). Oh, I was heartbroken and swore I'd never have any other kids because the world is so cruel.

Then I got to thinking, if all the good people who want their kids to act responsibly and empathetically decided not to have kids, the rest of the world really is doomed. Let's make babies, girls, and out-number the meanies!

Yes, these are the types of worries my DH and I discuss all the time. I worry a lot about the state of the world and my husband worries about money. I know money would be tight if one of us lost our job, but as long as we both don't lose our job at the same time, we should be okay until we find another job. I have posted about some of my concerns on the Deciding to Try board, in case you want to check it out.

I think it's normal to worry, but that means you care, so you should make good parents!

DH is in the Military, and his job alone takes care of both of us wonderfully. He can't be fired so financially it hasn't worried us at all. But, we do worry about all the global warming stuff. Not enough to really talk about it though. And my job is slowing down A LOT. They've already fired quite a few people. Lucky I'm the only one who does what I do, and my job doesn't slow down enough to lose so I'm pretty safe. But I really feel for my other co-workers...
