hi has anyone here done a i.. i was wondering how they did it.. they told me and my husband they could take his sperm adn but them directly into my uterus.. has anyone had any luck with this.. they said it wasnt that expensive.

I've had 4 artificial inseminations or IUI's (interuterine insemination). Don't go by my stats though, because it just wasn't meant to work for us I guess. It is a very simple procedure. DH will give his "sample" just as he would with a SA, usually in the morning. They "wash" the sperm, a process called capitazation (sp), which does essentionally what your cervix would since this by-passes the cervix. This takes an hour or two. Once this is done, the sperm is inserted in you past your cervix. This is done by having you lie on the table, a speculum is inserted, and then a thin catheter with dh's sperm is inserted past your cervix and the sperm injected in (much like with the dye in the hsg). Then the doc may or may not insert a sponge covered in plastic over you cervix to hold the sperm in, you just pull this out a few hours later like a tampon. It is a very simple and painless experience, the next 2 weeks waiting is the bad part. If you have anymore ?'s feel free to ask. I think I covered the basics. e-mail me if you want, I'd be glad to answer any ?s you have and then I know I'll get them... rnfor408@aol.com
