********TMI ALERT***********

So DH and I have been trying our best to time our BDing accordingly. And while I've heard its a myth, I am elevating my hips afterward anyway. Maybe its a mental thing for my own sanity, who knows. But I'm doing it and feel like I SHOULD do it.

My issue is that no matter which pillow I use, how many, etc, a little...stuff...always comes out. No matter what. I'm not sure if its semen or my own arousal fluid or CM or what, but I'm assuming its semen. This happens no matter how soon I get a pillow under me, or whether or not my legs are in the air.

Does this happen to anyone else? Do you think enough remains in there?

I honestly don't think it's possible for 100% of semen to remain in the vagina after BD. Think about it...he has to pull out at some point so it seems only natural for there to be some that 'escapes.' I have this happen and

You are too funny with the TMI alert! :o)

I read in the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility that it's normal for a little bit to slip out and almost unavoidable-- but rest easy there are still millions of other little guys to dance with the egg! :o) And as for elevating your hips (the book recommends that also) my doc makes sure my hips are up for at least 15 minutes after an IUI-- so there's got to be some truth to it. Hey, whatever works, right? :o)

Good luck with your bding!! I hope you get a BFP SOON!!! :o)

I'm 38 and have been trying to conceive since July 2008. I had my first IUI with Femara on Feb 4th and AF (the meanie) showed up. Try and try again! :o) I was lucky enough to find my Mr. Perfect 2 years ago and we have 2 goofy but lovable pups! :o)

Haha, I figured that you all deserved a little TMI warning with that post!!

I have ordered Taking Charge of your Fertility from Amazon and am waiting for it to arrive! I can't wait to read this book; I've heard so much about it.

It sounds reasonable that this is unavoidable, because no matter what I try to do, it still happens. DH actually is more nervous about it than I am. I figured that most of it stayed inside, close to the cervix, but knowing that some of it is "escaping" is like...aaaahhhh!!

I do not think it is a myth at all! I conceived my son the first time I did that... although I didn't just shove a pillow under my butt... I kept my legs way up in the air, hands under my butt, balancing kinda against the wall lol... for half an hour! I'll be doing the same come April.

Like the others said I wouldn't worry about the few escapees. When trying for my first child my doctor informed me that my U was tilted, and it would be best if I would lay on my tummy afterwards with a pillow under me.... and the first time I got preggers I was actually hanging of the bed in a makeshift handstand.. but it worked lol, I don't think you really have to get that extream, but it would have made a really funny story to my child when s/he was TTC if s/he would have stuck.

I say whatever helps, helps.

Sending good vibes showed with baby dust.
