positive. However, my my HcG levels are low, 37.8 (whatever that means). So, since I have been bleeding, she wants me to go back in on Friday and get my levels checked again. She also wants to test my progestone levels. She said that if they are low, they could be causing me to bleed.

Can anyone help me understand the HcG levels? What are normal? I'm almost 6 weeks along.

I don't know whether to be excited or not. I guess I'll know for sure on Friday when we get our second set of tests back.

Keep sending me positive vibes!

First of all... Congratulations to you and your husband on your pregnancy. I am by far not an expert on this and have no understanding about the HcG levels. However...I would have them check your progesterone levels as that what sustains the pregnancy for the first 10 or so weeks until the placenta takes over. If they are low, there is a shot available to jump start the levels and also a suppository that you insert 2x daily ( I had both). Make sure that the suppositories are the compounded type if you are to get them. Like I said, I am no an expert on this....I just speak from personal experience of what happened to me. There is a master plan for all of us. If it meant to be for you and your husband then everything will work out just fine. If not, then there was something wrong in the very beginning and you would not want to continue the pregnancy of an unhealthy child. As hard as it is ( and I speak this time from experience), try to stay calm and focus on the positive knowing that you will be taken care of. Take Care!

Normally (and by no means is everyone normal) HCG levels are about 25 at 10dpo and double everyday there after. But, that doesn't mean something is wrong with you, because everyone's body is different. It also depends on what units the lab uses to measure your HCG, your 37.8 could be 3780, which would put you right where you are, depending on the scale/units used by the lab. Go back tomorrow (Friday) and have your blood drawn, and take the progestrone if that is what is indicated by your OB. Hope this helps. Try to relax and not stress too much until you find out what is what. Good luck to you.

I got to looking at the HcG ranges on the internet. They all talk about levels being in the thousands at my stage (6 weeks). The nurse told me I was at 37.8. Do you think maybe that was just the unit of measure that the lab used? Like it's really 3,780 or maybe even 37,800? I mean, if it was only 37.8 at 6 weeks, that's extremely low and I would think they would be able to tell right then that it wasn't a viable pregnancy. 37 would be around 10 dpo and I'm at like 26 dpo, I think (23 at the least). Surely it was just the way they convert the measurements don't you think? I mean, she acted like it was low, but not extremely low.
