I received alarming news from a friend and I'd like to get a second opinion.

I weigh 110 and am 5'7. I have already had one kid, am currently pregnant with another.

I have not had any problems although I do believe that like anything, if you have one extreme in weight or diet or anything, that isn't always a great thing. However, my doctor has never mentioned anything to me about my not being able to carry a baby to term or anything like that.

It can be harder for someone at either end of the weight spectrum to get pregnant, but there are all kinds of things that can happen and don't.

BTW, who told you, that you possibly couldn't carry a baby to term?

Hi! A low body fat % is only a concern if it keeps you from ovulating. I used to do competitions (like bodybuilding) and would totally lose my period once I got around 11% bf. I didn't get it back and start ovulating again until I put on a decent amount. When I competed, my bf would get down to about 6% so that is reallly low. If you are naturally a lean person and you are ovulating then it wouldn't affect your chances of getting pg. If however, you are not ovulating then the low bf% could be to blame.

I just want to echo what the pp have said. As with anything, one extreme or the other can affect your body and what you're able to do with it (like having a baby.) If you're naturally very petite, that doesn't mean you can't have a baby. If you're ovulating then your body is obviously functioning as it should and I wouldn't be too worried about carrying to term.

Are there other factors that you're concerned about? Who told you that you might not be able to carry to term? Does your friend have qualifications in the medical field? (I don't want to sound harsh, but I would hate for you to get really worked up about this unnecessarily.) I don't have any credentials, but the ability to carry a baby to term is about more than body fat.

my bff is 5'4 and was 92 to 97 lbs when she got pregnant with all of her 4 kids. she got pregnant very easy. i think as long as AF visits on a regular basis its a good chance that you can get pregnant. its when you are too skinny AF doesnt come then there is a problem
