I think all that break through means is bleeding between AF's.

I think that is what it means. Bleeding between AFs.

Yes- it is bleeding between AF's- caused by estrogen deficiency because the endometrium lining cannot be supported.

So if I have breakthrough bleeding and thus possibly an estrogen deficiency, does that mean I should be on some sort of hormone to conceive? I'm very new at TTC but for some reason I'm very pessimistic.

I'm no Dr, but if there is estrogen deficiency, I beleive the main issue is that the lining does not build up thick enough. There may not be enough lining to support a pg or implantation. BUT- it may be fine too....it's something that would obviously have to be tested. They can test your estrogen levels through cd1 to ovulation and also do ultrasound to measure the thickness of your lining. There are meds if it is determined to be an issue.

HTH!
