Calling all nightshift girls: CBEFM???

Or really anyone that can help!!! Alright girls I work (3) 12 hour nightshifts a week. I also just ordered the CBEFM and know you have to test within your test window you set. I'm hoping some of you girls that use them are in my same situation and let me know how you do it?! The days before I go into work I sleep before so my "FMU" will be fresh afternoon urine. The other days I get up in the AM so will be doing actual FMU. First, what happens if you try and test outside of the time window...will it just not let you?! I was thinking about setting my window for the late afternoon when I get up for work and then on the days I don't work put my FMU in a cup to test later in the window. Someone said it needs to be refrigerated until you test? If so I'm not going to do that...would it be okay to leave out? Ahh! Have any other ideas on how to do this? Thanks in advance girls :)

I would call the toll-free number in the booklet and ask them, but I have to say that your idea of putting the urine in a cup and waiting is probably the way to go. I'm not sure about having to refrigerate it. Sorry I can't be more of a help! Definitely call them.

Cycle 1 - BFN. Diagnosed with PCOS.
Day 3 Blood Work - Appears to be normal, with slightly high prolactin. Must re-do next cycle.
Cycle 2 - DH's s/a came back normal. BFN - AF arrived early.
Cycle 3 - Day 3 Blood Work re-do is normal. Could not do HSG...long story. Have an appt. with the local fertility genius in mid-May. O'ed early, no chance for a BFP this cycle, which was my first 28 day cycle in YEARS!!! woo hoo
Cycle 4 - Day 3 b/w is normal yet again. Back to my usual CD 19/20/21 O day. Using CBEFM and OPKs, not temping.

Amanda,

I never tried to test outside the window of time but I think that your idea of putting it in a cup is the way to go. I am not sure you have to keep it cold if so I would put it in a cup of cold water (if that is necessary). I too think you should call the hotline.

Thanks ladies! I read somewhere some people said it should be okay to hold it for 4 hours and limit fluids and test, which would work great but I would be worried if it would be strong enough...like FMU. Linds I got that positive OPK with fresh "afternoon" urine...so it would have fallen into the window of "fmu" and afternoon OPK prime time. So I'm hoping as long as it's held long enough it shouldn't matter what time of day. Guess I'll find out this month! So had anyone tried holding it using the CBEFM?? Does it seem to give you the same results as FMU?

Sorry that you are having trouble... this is the same exact reason why I do not temp. I think it would be out the window since I do shift change and sometimes work 11pm-7am and other times work 7am -3pm... Hope you can figure it out and it works for you!

Thank you! I actually got my booklet out and read and it recommends to save it for later in the window...and to keep it room temp thank goodness haha. I temp and still notice a pattern definitely...but I think the CBEFM is going to make this process way easier than depending on just my temps!

I've never had any experience with calling the hotline but I'd imagine it can't hurt to try. And now that you mention it, I do remember something in the booklet about saving the urine and then using it to test during the testing window. I have to check on that.

In your situation, I think that temping would probably be extremely stressful and not totally accurate so using the CBEFM is a great idea.

Good luck!
