Hello my name is Penny.

I found out i was Prego last week,I think I o'd March 11th I went in for a Beta and was at a 45 My next Beta 2 days later was at 51 Am I at risk?Am I losing my baby?I do have some spotting which started the same day I had the 45 Beta I think it was due to a Pap and other tests that where done "down there".It is now 3days later and I am still spotting on and off with an occassional little blood clot here and there. My Doc said I have to term. my pregnancy he thinks it is not going to make it.Does it sound like it is not making it?I am now 6 days past LMP .Are these HCG levels normal?Who you get a second opinion??Anyones advice I would be greatful to hear. Thanks

Hi, Penny. Your HCG doesn't sound good. The number should double every 48 hours I believe. However, I think it is very odd that your doc is saying you should terminate the pregnancy. I think that if it is an unhealthy pregnancy at this stage it will take care of itself. I can't imagine having to terminate at only a couple of weeks. Most people at this stage might not even know they were pregnant and might assume the spotting you are seeing is AF. I would ask for another quantitative HCG again to see how things are. When I was pregnant previously I started bleeding at 5 weeks. I went to the ER and they said I was miscarrying. They did a quant. HCG and told me to come back in a couple of days for 2nd, ultrasound, and probable D&C. The second time they said things looked better and come back again in a couple of days. That time they again told me I was miscarrying. I was to come back a 4th time. 4th time they said things look better again. I was a mess. I bled off and on and it wasn't until my 12 week formal appt. w/OB did I find out it was really just a polyp on my cervix that was bleeding. I ended up having a healthy baby, but that first trimester was harrowing. Of course, this may not be the case for you, and you may be miscarrying (I truly hope not), but if you want a second opinion I say go get one because you never know what the outcome will be. Definitely ask for another round of HCG. Good luck to you. I know how scary it is. Hugs.
