Carmen here with SA problems!!! (vent!)

So....my infertility doc wants DH's swimmers tested, right? So, I call my HMO and they say "have the dr office call and get an authorization," they call, and are told that the only office of the covered lab is like an hour away...so I call the local office just to make sure, and they said that the lab doesn't DO sperm analysis anymore!!! So, I call the HMO back, and they told me that as long as the dr office calls to get authorization, it will be covered. So I call the dr. back, and the nurse give me the name of the other big lab in the area....they all tell me that it HAS to be done in a hospital!!! So, I call the nurse back, and she says "that's BS!" The thing is, the dr. office will do it, but I will be out of pocket $35, which doesn't sound like a lot, but considering my doctor visits co-pay are $30, I am trying to save a little here and there! So, the up shop it that we will have to go through the dr. office....but there is only one little catch.....

They need the sample within 1 hour of "collection" (heehee)....and they are there beginning at 9:00 in the am....but DH leaves for work at 7:00 in the am, and doesn't get home till 5:00 in the pm!!!! So, now he will either have to go to work late, or take a long lunch, or SOMETHING.......

Sorry everyone....just needed to vent the newest of problems in my TTC world!!!

Thanks for listening! Good Luck to all!

Sorry you have to go through that annoyance. I hate having to go back and forth between people like that, can't they just talk directly to each other? One thing I wanted to say is that my DH had an SA and they told him that the sample had to be in the office within 30 minutes, and that's the latest amount of time I have ever heard of. I could be wrong but I have never heard of having an hour.

HIGH COUNT VIBES!!

GA Carmen! How frustrating indeed- and I hate it went the dr offices do that chasing you around to call here and there thing- brother!! I hope you can get the HMO and dr's to agree to something that will save you a little $ and that DH won't have to miss too much work. I heard someone post last week- two weeks ago- can't remember who- that their DH had a SA done recently and it was also a within one hour time frame. Sending you and mostly DH, hee, hee, tons of GREAT SWIMMERS vibes!!!!!!!!!

Keep us posted on how it goes!!! LOLove, Connie
