Cervix Questions & Ovulation (TMI)

I have PCOS, and a long history of infertility (over 7 years actively trying and over 10 years with no prevention) under my belt. I rarely get AF let alone ovulate without the help of medications such as high doses of clomid.

When YOU ovulate what does your cervix feel like and what is its usual position?

Good friday I noticed my cervix was in a position where I've never felt it before, it was low and my SO whacked it so hard we thought we broke him, lol, it took us both by surprise...

Saturday I had CM and ovary crampy twinges, something I rarely ever get.

Sunday my cervix was still super low and made sex really uncomfortable as it felt like it was in the way and felt really strange like it made everything so shallow, a feeling I've never had before.

I never ovulate on my own, however I just came off of Depo shots that I'd been on since last July. It was my first time ever on any form of BC. I don't get AF while on Depo shots and I haven't seen AF yet since I came off it (I was due for another shot about 3 weeks or so ago but never got it since I moved away from my doctor). Sooooo I am wondering if my body spontaneously ovulated because I came off of depo? My Doctor warned that could happen.

My SO checked my cervix position Sunday and said it was really low and soft and squishy, not firm at all...

So what do you ladies think? Should I be hopeful that I ovulated?
He checked it again today and it's gone to being high up.

Any thoughts and advice is appreciated. We hadn't planned on TTC any time soon, but this would be exciting news if I did ovulate on my own...

Thanks! :)

Mine gets very high - sometimes so much so that I can't even reach it, & very soft as well when I'm Oing.

Generally the cervix is low rather than high at ovulation. If it was making sex uncomfortable, it sounds like it was pretty firm too. This is not a fertile cervix. However, you describe it as feeling "soft and squishy." This is more consistent with ovulation. I believe that when you are least fertile, the cervix is stiff like the tip of your nose, and when you are most fertile, it is soft like your lips. However, the low positioning you are describing does not sound like ovulation.

high, soft, and open is how it is for O... low, firm, and closed is not fertile.

Ooooh why does 'O' have to be so confusing, half the websites I googled and half the people I talked to said low and soft is ovulating, the other half say high is ovulating... Guess I'll just have to wait and see...

I know I've read somewhere that the fertile cervix acronym is SHOW - soft, high, open, wet. Helps me remember, not that I've actually found my cervix or anything ;-)

According to this website http://www.beyondfertility.com/art3.htm

Once ovulation occurs the cervix drops to low and firm - once again feeling like the tip of your nose.

So hoping that low spell meant we did ovulate at some point... Would be one small victory in my PCOS
