I have an ovulation poll on my chart. And some people are saying that I O'd on CD17. I thought that I O'd on CD15. How could I have O'd on CD17 if I had a + OPK on CD14. Can you look and help me figure this out please.

I believe I voted for CD17 on your chart, but CD15 was a close 2nd. First, I actually ended up disregarding your CD15 temp, as well as your CD4 temp. Both of these look WAY out of line from the rest of your temps, and WAY low for any charts I've really looked at.

After that, I looked at your general temperature pattern pre-O. Your temps ranged in the 97.3 - 97.7 area for the most part. CD17 was the first day your temps increased significantly above that range. Even your CD16 temp was lower than most of your pre-O temps, which is why we have to wonder if CD15 ovulation actually took place. You also continued with fertile CM on CD17, which suggests you remained fertile after CD15.

With regards to your question on OPK, your chart was one where I just kind of threw that out the window. I know we're told to stop taking OPKs after we get a +, but it IS possible to get a +, but not ovulate. Sometimes our bodies get disrupted... I've seen a few charts where there are multiple + OPKs, but only one O. Also, it is most common to O 18-36 hours after a +OPK, but it can take place sooner, or later. It can also vary depending on whether you caught the beginning of the surge, or the tail end of it.

Hope this answered your questions. The important thing with these charts is to identify a few key days; it's rare to find any two people or two tools that will totally agree when it comes to predicting an O date. In the end, it probably doesn't matter - it looks like you and your DH still had great timing with the BDing.

I use both FF and Ovusoft for my charts, and I've found even those two programs don't agree with one another. Last month FF gave me a CD18 O date; Ovusoft gave me a CD16 O date. As my doctor told me, the important thing is to identify that ovulation DID happen.

Good luck to you!

Heather, Tami answer your question very well. I think you O'd on day 17. When trying to calculate your cover line, average the temps of 6 days pre-O. Disregard the huge temp drom on cd 15. That is out of line with the other temps. When temps remain above cover for at least 3 days in a row, O has been detected. Wait 2 more days and see what FF says.

Heather, the truth is, that its impossible to know for sure which day you O'd between CD 15, 16, or 17. But you definately O'd by CD17. The drop on CD 15 could be a huge pre-o dip and you might have O'd then and have a slower rise that took a few days. I agree that the important thing is that you O'd and it looks like you covered BD for any case. Also, for purposes of calculating when AF is due, I always tend to pick the latest O day thats reasonable so I am less likely to test too early or expect AF too early!

Good Luck!

I would definitely say cd17 because after cd15 your temps didn't go above the previous 6 temps, they did on cd17. Good luck.
