Chemical PG and Nurse says to wait 1-2?
| Wed, 07-30-2003 - 7:09am |
Does anyone know the reason for having to wait 1-2 cycles after a "chemical pg"? I don't want to do anything that isn't in my best interest but I can't find anything that says there is a medical reason for waiting to TTC after having a chemical pg. I was at work when the nurse called and said my bt should my hcg levels were back down under 5 mlu which is considered negative. Then she said they recommend waiting 1-2 cycles. I didn't get to ask her why because I don't have much privacy.
Any advice is appreciated!

I also believe I had a chem.prg. last cycle...at least that's what the dr. thinks and with the symptoms I experienced (+test one day, -the next, late AF, and other things). Anyway, no one told me to wait, as a matter of fact, they said my chances of conceiving the following cycle were higher. Maybe she just said it for your mental health, which is ridiculous because anyone who has had a chemical pregnancy probably feels the same way I do:GET BACK IN THERE AND DO IT RIGHT-I WAS SOOOOOOO DANG CLOSE!
Anyway, good luck this cycle, Jen. Try to cheer up and not be so hard on yourself...it will happen!

I agree totally with Danielle. Your body is ready for it RIGHT NOW!! Go For It!!!!!! I wish you the best of luck this cycle. I'll check back periodically to see how everyone is doing. I am having a miscarriage right now unfortunately :( I won't be trying for a month or so.
Best of luck to you sweetie!! I really hope this is your month!

I mainly lurk on this board from time to time and remember your story; I'm sorry to hear about it. But I wanted to give you some advice my OB gave me.
I had an ectopic PG in march and we had to terminate it using a chemo drug called methotrexate (it's a newer, safe way to end ectopics without surgery). Once I miscarried, my OB told me to wait until I had at least 1 normal AF before trying again. Reason being, she wanted to be sure I got back to "normal" and that my system was working OK. Well, I didn't get AF on my own, so I then had to use Provera to bring on AF. Once that happened, we were all set to go! My body just needed some extra time, I guess.
You might want to call your dr and get more advice from him/her just to be sure. Best of luck to you,

I have had two friends with a chem. pg. Neither of their drs. said to wait. In fact, each got pg the next cycle! (one with twins!)
If we weren't such lunatic testers, you would not even know about the chem pg and would move on to the next cycle without blinking after you got AF. I say go for it!\

I had a very early m/c on 5/31/03 the dr called it a chemical pg. He told me not to wait at all if I didn't want to. I never saw AF. The "chemical pg" was about 9 wks ago and the dr says I am just about 9 wks pg now!!!! So if you feel ok, go for it!!
Good luck!!
