Clear Blue Easy + sign fading? Thoughts
| Sat, 09-13-2003 - 9:08am |
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help. I took a test, the new clearblue easy with the + or - sign in the window. I usually buy ept, but I had never seen the one with the plus sign and there were 2 tests for the price of one. Anyway, I did the first one in the evening at 10 dpo. I got a faint cross, the vertical line was faint and I was sure it was +. I looked at it again the next day and it was still there but faint. Last night, at 12 dpo, I decided to take the other one just to make sure that the line was darker (the hcg increasing, I hoped). The vertical line for the cross was definitely darker and came up right away, so I was pleased that it seemed to be faster. However, I looked at the test this morning and it seems really faded.
I know I'm pregnant. I don't mean to be stressing out... but has anyone had this experience. I'm just hoping that the hcg is going up and this is a viable pregnancy that's all. Any thoughts or support is appreciated.
Thanks a lot, congrats and good luck to everyone!

I would say if you really want to make sure...go ahead and have a blood draw done. That way it willremove any and/or all doubt. Gl Luck to you.
Another question, what kind of blood test? I know there are quantitative and qualitative tests? Beta tests? What do they all mean?
Thanks in advance

Former poster, now graduate/lurker piping in to say that I had the same experience with CBE--I like the test. It came up positive right away for me, and it is sensitive, but yeah, my positive faded by the next day (yet 10 weeks later I am still quite pregnant). If you got the plus, it's likely positive--doesn't need to last. No other test faded like that with me. Just CBE. It sounds like congrats and good wishes are in order!
As far as the blood testing goes, not everyone has to have them. With my first pg I didn't, but having since had a m/c, I wanted to check levels this time. I had no doc as mine had just left (found out the day of my bfp), and in the practice they don't see you until 8 weeks anyway, so I asked the nurse, and one of the other docs in the practice (who now *is* my doc but had never met me) ordered a quantitative beta. I say, go for the quantitative if you can, because you get the actual level of hcg in your blood rather than a qualitative yes or no answer. The qualitative test could fail to detect a pregnancy if your level isn't quite high enough yet, but with the quantitative you'll know the levels. Also, then you have the option of repeating the test to see if the numbers rise (they should double every 2 to 3 days).
Anyway, good luck, and good beta and sticky vibes to you!
