Clomid ?

I also posted on the Clomid board, but just wanted to check here too. I have a couple questions..
1. Does it really matter what CD you take it on? I know you shouldnt start taking it past CD5, but does it hurt to start taking it CD1 or CD2? Does that bring on earlier O?
2. Did anyone get pg with only 50g the first time? Im probably being really hopeful, but its worth a shot, right?
Thanks in advanced! Good luck to everyone!

I'll be interested to see what other women post too as this month will be my first time on Clomid.
Me I'm starting it on Cd5-9 at 50 mg. First time
As to your first question, I don't think there is a difference. Some doctors say to start taking it on CD 2, some say to start it on day 5. My doctor said to start it on the fifth day following ANY bleeding (spotting included). It probably just the preference of the prescribing doctor. I do know for a fact that starting it too late (past CD 5, as you said) can really mess with a cycle, plus you want to make sure there's no chance you could be pregnant when you take it.
To answer your second question, I don't personally know anyone who has gotten pg on their first Clomid cycle, but that certainly doesn't mean it can't happen. I'm on my second cycle of Clomid. Last month was 50mg for 5 days. I O'd, but very late in my cycle, so the doctor upped the dose this cycle to 50mg for 7 days. If that doesn't cause me to O, I'll be on to 100mg next cycle. It's all just a matter of getting the dosage just right for each individual woman.
Good luck with your first Clomid cycle! I hope you see your BFP on the first try!
My doctor told me that taking it early in your cycle will produce more eggs, but they might not be as mature/viable. And taking it later will produce fewer, more mature/viable eggs. She advises all her patients to take it from 3-7 to get a bit of both. I have heard of a few women on some other boards taking it from CD 1-5 or 2-6 but I don't know if it was successful for them.
That's about all the info I have on it as we only discussed it briefly and I would like to try to conceive naturally for a few months before resorting to such strong medication.
Baby dust! :)
Usually when you get your prescription, it will say what days to take it on.
Thanks for all the posts! My dr told me to take CD3-7, so I'll probably start tomorrow (CD2) at night.
Good luck to everyone!
