CM on Provera????

Good Morning! :)

This is my last day of Provera and my CM is still very much "EWCM". Shouldnt it be thick because of the progesterone? I am worried that the Provera is not going to induce AF. My Dr. said that it should take 2 - 7 days for AF to start after my last Provera pill. I am so anxious to get back on track because I have not had AF since 6-29, and I have Clomid to take once AF starts.

Thanks for your help!!

My body has been so screwed up when I've needed a progesterone-induced AF, that I wouldn't put too much stock in CM observations. I found that my CM was all over the place (sticky, creamy, watery, dry) while I was on progesterone, but I still got my bleeding. In my cases, my bleeding came 2-3 days after the last pill the first time, and 8 days after the last pill the 2nd time (it can actually take up to 14 days for some women!) Good luck to you!!!

Thank you, Tami!

I am really anxious to get this ball rolling! LOL I am hoping I will start AF on Friday and then start the CLomid on Monday. Is this your 3rd cycle of Provera? Do you do the Clomid as well?

You helped me calm down once again!

Thanks!!

HI Stephanie,

Glad you asked that question, because took my last Provera this morning (Day 5). I am feeling a little crampy/PMS-y, but I am trying really hard not to obsess about it. I have not charted (this is my 1st cycle TTC), but I have been trying to notice my CM, etc. It seems to be random this cycle, hopefully AF will come right away for both of us and we will see each other on the BFP board.

Good luck :)

Hi Stepanie,

I am in your boat waiting for af to start on it's own and if not, next Wed. (a week late if I don't start) I am to take Provera as well following a dose of clomid of 100mg days 5-9. Can I ask, did your doc tell you to take the Provera for 5 days or 10? My doc said 10 days then af should come on about 2-3 days after that. I hear some taking the Provera for only 5 days and it brings on a bleed but my doc said 10 for mine. Wonder why, should of asked. I have NEVER needed anything to induce my af, I've had a af ever since I stopped the pill back in March this year and usually a week before af, I get really bad cramping, PMS, sore bb's and now, I have not a single sign of starting, nothing! I took a pg test just in case two days ago but I have no pg symptoms at all but this morning I did get some creamy cm on the panties and inside when I felt my cp and I never get that before af, do you ever get that cm before af? I was dry last month so this is new to me. It will be really strange for me not to get af on my own but I've never not gotten PMS signs a week a head and not start af, I've had no signs of starting at all and I'm on cd 34. My cycles since off the bcp have always been longer now about 35 days but never beyond 35 days, so this is really weird for me, I've always been regular just longer cycles.

Have you always needed to induce your af's? Any info you can give would be great.

TIA.

Hi Julie!

I would *highly* reccommend taking another pg test before starting Provera. Maybe even a blood test. I have read and been told by my dr's that it is not uncommon to miss a period once. (as long as it doesnt happen more than once a year.)

You may not have ovulated last month, or you could be pg. Sometimes it takes a while to show up as positive. (Just my advice, but I would make sure you are NOT pg.)

My Dr. gave me 5 days worth of Provera. I havent heard of taking it longer, but this is all pretty new to me, too.

He gave me Provera for 5 days, and said that I should start AF 2 - 7 days after taking the last pill. (I started today, the 5th day of Provera - which I wasnt expecting, but happy because I havent had a period in 88 days!) LOL

On the 3rd day of bleeding, I will start Clomid to induce ovulation.

This is the first time I have ever gone this long without AF - I usually start every 28 - 35 days.

I understand how frustrating it is when AF doesnt show and you are getting neg pg tests!

In your case, I think you still cant rule out being pregnant because it is still so early.

(especially with all the CM you are having, etc.)

Ask for a blood test, (that is what I would do.)

Then, if you arent, then start the Provera and ask him why the 10 days instead of 5.

I actually started AF before I even took my 5th pill. I dont know how common that is! LOL

I hope I could help a little - I really am trying to stress *Ruling out PG* first! ;-)

Good Luck!!

Keep me posted!!

Stephanie,

Fortunately I am not on any progesterone this cycle - I actually O'ed last cycle and got a "real" AF and everything - here's to small victories!!! Sorry if my ensuing story is kinda long, but thought I'd share my background...

I went off BCP last year in May, and my DH was finally ready to TTC in August. I was actually regular, with 32-36 day cycles - all the way through November; this was a huge surprise to me, because I had never been regular in my life. Then last December - nothing. After 90 days and no AF, I called my doctor's office; they were anything but concerned, and told me to just wait it out the 2 months until I could get in for my annual exam. By the time I saw my doctor, I had been 5 1/2 months without a period. I was prescribed a generic progesterone for 5 days, and finally closed the door on my 180+ day cycle. Frustrating!

Ticked off at my doctor, I moved on to an IF specialist who put me on Prometrium. The stuff was miserable - lots of dizziness and other wacky side effects. The only saving grace: I got to start on Clomid, which has me ovulating (on just 50mg no less).

I'm currently 8DPO in my 2nd Clomid cycle; I don't have very high hopes for this cycle, since my DH had a crazy travel schedule for work. We're mostly using this cycle to diagnose my LP (I had 8 days of spotting last cycle; just need to see if it happens again, or if it was just a residual effect of so many months with no O or AF).

I hope you have good luck with Clomid too; keep me posted on your progress!
