A "cold" question...

I have a question. I was wondering if a man is exposed to cold (ie: swimming in cold water)does the cold make him produce more sperm? A friend told me that my DH should try to use an ice pack or swim in cold water to help us with TTC. (It seemed a little odd to me...but we are willing to try anything!) He said that he and his wife had been TTC for years and he went swimming in a cold lake and 2 weeks later his wife was PG. Sorry if this is a silly/stupid question, but do any of you have any idea about this?

Thanks in advance!

In all honesty, I don't think that's a stupid question! In all my reading I haven't seen that anywhere, but the other day my husband was like, "Do you want me to ice my nuts to make this easier?" LOL. (He's not one for tact.) He said that it was supposed to produce more sperm. I don't know where he heard that though! But in a way it makes sense, since guys shouldn't wear tighty whities because it makes heats their stuff up by being close to their body.

But I'm really interested to know the answer to this too!! I'm going to see what I can find online. I hope someone else knows for sure though.

My SIL said after they were trying for 3 months, my bro held a pack of frozen peas on him before BD'g and on that month, they got pg! She keeps telling my DH to try, but he thinks it's a bit strange to put frozen peas on his package, especially since he likes to eat peas so much! :-)

Amber,

That’s an interesting question! I haven’t heard anything about if it could be true. I know that heat does kill sperm. Biology 101 says that it takes a man 70 days to make the swimmers. It could be that it helped, or that they got lucky. The other thought I have is that it might make a man ejaculate more sperm. Who knows? It might be worth a try.

Thank you all for your insight!! If I can get DH to try it this month, I think I am going to! (It might be difficult to convince him to use ice...he told me he'd like to see me use an ice pack...lol!) If something happens this month, I'll let you all know!

Thanks again! :o)

I haven't heard of that before, but if AF shows this weekend, I'm making DH take a cold shower with an ice pack for next cycle!!
