If you are over 30, you can probably give your doc a call now and tell them you have been charting etc for 6 months. They might go ahead and start a fertility workup. If you are under 30 they probably will make you wait until you have been trying a year. But if your charting has shown anything atypical like lack of ovulation or short luteal phase, I would call the doc about that. Most of all, don't give up! Only 85% of people that are fertile conceive within a year. I think 6 months is about the average. You are probably doing everythign right and the odds just haven't fallen in your favor yet, but they most likely will very soon!

Good Luck!

Have either or you gone for any type of testing?

I've been trying for 9 months with no luck, last month we had all our RE testing done. We are lucky that neither of us have any apparent problems. The RE did tell me that the average couple only has a 20% chance each month & the avergae time is 6-8 months.

I know how hard it is to stay positive but keep your chins up, Im trying to!

Believe me you're not alone here! My doctor said that even out of 100 healthy young couples only 80% will conceive within the first year. Now like he said, we look at that and say wow 80% is a lot, but then think about the 20% who have no problems and they can't conceive within that year!

Don't get discouraged, I know it's difficult but it will happen! Keep your chin up!

Thanks for your encouraging words. I already have a 20 months old daughter, and I badly want another one soon (preferably a boy), so their ages will not be too far apart. I also have a full-time job, which is stressful. I start work in my office at 8:30am and finish at 7pm. So tired today, (Monday 1:45pm-Hong Kong time) my daughter is teething so had a rough night sleep - about 3 hours in total. I have already bought myself a fertility test (LH surge) for this cycle. I hope all goes well. I use to think that cycles went so quick, but now, ther're not often enough ! Waiting for mid-month (approx)ovulation and waiting for period is so tedious and frustrating. Could working too hard in the office affect my fertility ?

I know my doctor said stress plays a very large factor in TTC as well. The more I try though the more I'm convinced that when it's meant to happen it will. All in all I've just been trying to eat better and exercise more. I know how it is with having an infant and working full time, I did that with my son. Do you chart or take your temps.? I know that works for a lot of ladies on here as I have read. I chart but don't take temps. You can go to www.fertilityfriend.com, they have free charting and it's great to keep track of everything. Right now I'm 1 day late, experiencing what I believe* are pregnancy symptoms...however both hpt's were neg. Believe me you're not alone in trying and that's why this site is so great!

Hiya, I hope you are pg. I am currently in CD14 and should O very soon. I am now in the office with an OPK in front of me, but it didn't show a LH surge. I'll test later on tonight. But I tested yesterday and the line was much darker, now it's going backwards ! I also chart my BBT (every morning)and check my CF as often as possible. I really don't know what else I can do .... seems like I'm lacking in luck ! DH tested and confirmed OK. Still reading Toni's book every evening trying to find something I missed out and didn't do, but I can't. Tried everything.

I know this is not an honest thing to suggest but ... why not tell doc you have been trying for a year and charting for 6 mos. That way you can get the testing pronto. and save yourself some time since you mentioned timing is important to you.
