Could use some tips and advice

Okay, here I go, I'm getting serious now - more serious.  With both of my two children I didn't even have to "try" to get pregnant.  I just did, and I thought that this time would be just as easy. Obviously that hasn't been the case. So I am ready for some tips and suggestions.

I have always predicted when I O'd and when AF would arrive by cm, O pain and reading my body - and I think I am pretty darn good at it. This month I correctly predicted 2 days before hand that AF would start in exactly 2 days, I feel like I just know my body. BUT....I don't know why I'm not getting pregnant. DH suggested we get some OPK's to make sure I am right about when I O. Not a bad idea so what is a good cheap place/brand to buy?  And those that have a 26 day cycle (I am pretty sure I O around day 12) when do you start using them? I'm thinking day 9 just in case I'm wrong about the day?

I am also going to temp and chart this month. What free online trackers are good?  I am on cycle day 3 now.

By my own account I did on Thursday. Ovulation tests were a little iffy. They were just cheap dollar store tests and I got only one line on day 8 and 9, then two lines on days 10 and 11. But I thought maybe the lines were too light in comparison to the control line. But day 12 they went back to one line and all my regular O signs were there. I'm feeling hopeful to, but if not this month then perhaps I should get more reliable OPKs :) Yes, lets be cycle buddies! When do you test?

Did you O? I'll get negative after negative tests, then BAM a positive. It sneaks up on me :) I found both preseed and soft cups (brand name Instead) at Walgreens. I think i've also bought preseed at target. the Soft Cups are with the tampons and pads. They are actually meant for AF Thanks!!! I'm excited and hopeful this month. Sounds like we are close cycle buddies!

Thanks Brooke! I really appreciate your tips. I picked up some cheap OPK's for this month and we'll see how it goes. I was going to start using them tomorrow on cd9 since I think I usually O on cd12, but I have had some cramping and a lot of EWCM tonight so I went ahead and took one. It was negative, not surprisingly, but I wanted to make sure I'm not O'ing way earlier than I realized! I think I should O on Thursday. I have heard of Preseed before. If I don't get pg this month or next I think I'll try that. Do you buy it somewhere locally or do you have to order it online? And what about the soft cups also? I have never heard of those. Hopefully this works for me - I signed up for Fertility Friend, but I am horrible at remembering to temp! Plus, I don't sleep well either. I saw your other posts - GOOD LUCK! I hope this is your month!

Hey Kimmy! I went through exactly what you are going through right now. Here is what I do: OPKs - i prefer First Response. Pricier, but they work for me. I'll start around cd9 or 10. I usually get I positive test on cd14 or 15. I test when I get home from work (you could test twice a day, but I think its a waste of money). I think I o the day after a positive test, and then af arrives exactly two weeks after o. Preseed - we use lube when we bd typically, so we use preseed in the fertile week. I dont follow the directions because it ends up being way too much. Soft cups - these are somewhat new to me. I used them for the first time in January and got a bfp. unfortunately it ended up as a chemical pg and af arrived at 5 weeks. I use these in my fertile week too and just take them out 12 hrs after bd. they are a little messy and kind of a pain in the butt to use, but i'll continue using them. I dont temp or chart. I don't sleep well, so I dont think I'd ever get a good reading. :) Good luck!! Brooke

I think using OPKs is a great place to start, just to verify that you are ovulating and that your luteal phase is long enough.  With a 26 day cycle, you'd want to start testing on day 9.  Be sure to follow the directions on the time to test, most are in the afternoon so you can the rise.

Vegiemama over on Fertility Charting is the person to ask about sites, she's very knowledgeable.
