Couldn't get my HSG done :(

I have been crying all day. After driving an hour and a half and waiting almost an hour in the waiting room, things only got worse. The doctor could not get the catheter into my uterus. He tried so many different times, so many different ways, and it wasn't happening. He said my cervix and uterus were on too much of an angle? Ugh I became hysterical and confused almost instantly. He kept trying to reassure me that it didn't mean anything bad but I didn't believe him. I asked if it meant I had a tilted uterus and he said no. Well then why?! Why wouldn't the catheter go on?! He kept trying to explain my uterus was angled downward and my cervix was pointed upward, and that this is common but I was just totally beside myself! I instantly wrote myself off as defective and now feel like all the BDing and clomid and everything is a waste because... If a catheter and dye can't even get up there, sperm probably can't either.

I cried the whole way home. DB didn't even know what to say or do because I just wanted to cry and cry and cry. The doc said he was gonna call my OB/GYN, maybe I should call him tomorrow and see what his insight is on the situation? I feel so confused, angry, and upset right now I don't even know what to say or do I just feel now like there is really something wrong with me. I know I feel like I've been complaining a lot but this has just been a terrible week. I really need some support and answers. :(

Dear Lex, I am going to be strong here so hang with me. F*CK that doctor! Get rid of all your negativity about a tilted uterus! I was told I had one a long time ago and I got preggo with DD without even trying. Maybe that doctor did not know what he was doing or it was it meant for your to get that procedure done. Having a tilted or introverted uterus does not mean you cannot get pregnant. Do not lose hope on me hang with me. Sending you all my love and support......Talk to your OBGYN and let's look for the positive

Lex, Sorry your HSG didn't work. I don't know much about the test, but I wonder if it just doesn't always go where you want the catheter to go. Hang in there and maybe they can try it again later.

I wouldn't put too much thought into what happened today & DEFINITELY don't play Dr. Google, that will never get you correct answers, because the symptoms are so vague!!

Your cervix does different things at different times....so just because today was an 'off day', don't put too much thought in it.

Yeah, I don't check my cervix too often but since I'm a late O'er I know that between AF and my fertile window my cervix is usually firm and closed.

Ugh, I am so sorry--what a terrible day. I am supposed to get the hsg done soon as well, well, at least that what's my current obgyn wanted to do but I don't like her so I'm going straight to the RE, but I'm sure thats the next step. I would be so upset too if I had to drive all that way and be in pain, all just to leave confused. It makes perfect sense that your cervix was probably not in a good position today, so try not to worry. Hang in there, you are going to get the answers you need, it just sucks it takes so long to get them and so much effort (and sometimes literal pain!) to get there. HUGS
