Hi Everyone -

I am going to the dentist on Wednesday. I am going to be getting x-rays since it has been a VERY long time since I have been to the dentist. I am right about at ovulation time and I am a little worried about having the x-rays. When I was pregnant with my first (8 years ago) the dentist would not do the x-rays. But I was 3 or 4 months along then. Should I worry about having the x-rays not knowing if I am ovulating or not? Or would it be so early it would not make a difference?

I'm a Dental Assistant and it pretty much depends on the dentist on whether they will take radiographs or not. I can't remember a time when we would not take them because a patient was trying to get pregnant. We do however, double shield our patients that are pregnant. Just to be safe, even if you are just ovulating and not actually pregnant yet, I would ask them to use 2 lead aprons on you. Better safe than sorry!!
