I would speak to your regular gynecologist about getting a complete fertility workup, telling them that your BF has low sperm count. There are some things that he can do to try to improve the sperm count, certain vitamins (zinc, vitamin c, and others I think) avoid hot tubs, heavy drinking, etc. But they say it takes almost 3 months for any improvment because thats how long it take for completely new sperm to be made. They should probably check you out too since alot of fertility problems are related to both male and female. I don't know if you have been charting or anything, but that it a good way to check your cycles out yourself. Go to www.fertilityfriend.com and read their fertility handbook, its great! You can sign up for free online charting too. Then you can see if you are ovulating regularly, if your luteal phase is adequate, etc.

I hope this helps. I think if you have been trying for over 3 years, its definitely time to seek assistance! Good Luck!

I have to agree with Vicki, I think you should talk to your dr about getting some testing. If you have been trying for that length of time, then you probably need a little help with it. I recommend the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It is very helpful with explaining how to chart, taking your BBT, etc. That will help you to know when you are ovulating. Good luck!!!

I would call to make an appointment with the doctor but you might want to start charting now. I think it will help you and your doctor see what's going on in your cycle. If you don't chart already, fertilityfriend.com does have a good, free charting system. You'll want to chart temp (with a BBT), CM (Cervical Mucus) and if you want and can CP (Cervical Position). It will explain how to do it and what to look for there. This board is also wonderful when you're first learning.

Are your cycles usually regular? Is so, how many days? Do you know when you ovulate each month?

I would call to get a complete work up and let them know that you have been trying for over three years, but until you exhaust all methods such as charting and such, I'm not sure they'll do anything right away. Maybe with your BF though because he already knows he has a low sperm count.

Good luck to you.
