Does body need more time or is this it?

Hi everyone,
I have been having major dilemmas with my cycles lately (or lack of cycles). I've been off the pill for 7and a half months now. My cycles have been 51 days, 68 days, and 39 days, all ovulatory. Now cycle # 4 I am on cd 73 w/ no O in sight (temping)! I have a normal amount of stress with work and with ttc, but nothing out of the ordinary.
My dr. ordered blood tests, but didn't seem overly concerned. My question is, has anyone taken more than 6 months to get their body back to normal after birth control? From what I have read, cycles should be back to normal by 6 months. And the thing is, my periods have grown increasingly weirder the longer I am off the pill. The first two months I had the typical af cramps, and a normal flow. The third cycle was two weeks of spotting and now- nothing.
I cannot remember my cycle lengths when I was a teen pre bc but I do remember normal seeming periods w/ cramps.. so I'm sure I had them, I thought they were regular then? As time goes on, I am getting more and more frustrated and concerned. Has anyone taken this long to get back to normal?

I understand where you are coming from.
I'm not a doctor but those wacky cycles probably are not the result of the pill. By now your body should be back to normal as the pill leaves your system completely within a couple of days. Have you been tested for PCOS? Have you been charting and are you ovulating?
Your Dr is really the only person who can tell you what is going on and if he/she is being dismissive of your concerns, I would find a different Dr.

Thanks for answering my post. Yes, I believe I Oed the first few cycles off the pill, I had a clear temp rise on my charts. I even thought the 39 day cycle was getting close to "normal". I haven't been tested for PCOS, but I don't seem to have any signs except the irregular cycles. I am actually really healthy in all other parts of my life, which is why this is particularly weird to me. Why won't my darn body just O and have a normal period already?
I just got my blood tests done and they told me that the results will be in tomorrow. I am going to pick them up in the morning and try to read the results myself because I don't have an appt w/ my doctor again until next month. I guess if I have to wait months and months just to O, it could take me forever to get pregnant and then I would turn to clomid, but I am hoping for some other answer. Does anyone know if I could see any indications of PCOS by my hormone levels if I was to read my own tests? Could I have PCOS if all my hormone levels came back normal, or if I had PCOS should I expect abnormal hormone levels?
