Donating plasma while TTC?
| Wed, 09-17-2003 - 3:42pm |
I donate plasma twice a week. I've never thought about it, but could it be hindering my chances of getting pregnant? I know that your plasma holds your antibodies, but I don't know much more than that (they put the red cells back in). Does anybody know if this will affect TTC? I'll stop donating if I absolutely have to. Thank you for ANY info!

I know you shouldn't give blood products while pg...but I am not sure about while ttcing...I would think not a good idea...because while you are pg you cannot give blood or give blood up to 6 weeks after you have had the baby...during pg you need extra blood and your blood volume increases by about 4lbs....there are certain rules and restrictions following all donations...I would ask my doctor to be sure...I know that I cannot give blood products right now because on March 8th and 9th I received 4 pints of blood because of childbirth and now I must wait a year to the date to donate again...So I would probably stop..but if you feel strongly about doing this...just ask your ob...and see what he says..

I schedule the donation to be before O. That way, I know I'm not pg.
