I have really inconsistent periods as well. If I don't get pregnant this month, I am going to see the dr. about going on Clomid. I used this to get pregnant twice before. It helps induce ovulation, which in turn gives you a consistent period. HTH!

Are you monitoring your cycles at all (i.e. charting temps, OPK's, etc) to make sure you're actually ovulating? With highly irregular periods for such a long length of time, I would recommend talking to your Dr about getting on Clomid to regulate those cycles and make sure you ovulate. I'd also recommend taking some OPK's and/or charting as well. GL!
