So, my experience was awesome from the very beginning. (For those of you who didnt read my crazy posts a few weeks ago - my last dr was the WORST.)
The dr.'s office is in the hospital, but when you walk in the door, you immediatly feel like you are in a comfy country home or something. It is so warm and inviting, and the staff are the friedliest most caring people you have ever met. One of the things that made me smile right away is they had a little pail of flowers at the reception desk, but when I looked closer, they were fresh cut flowers with their stems taped to the top of writing pens! LOL really really cute i thought. All the forms I filled out were pink, too.
OK, so I know that the looks of a place is not what is important here, but I am a sucker for decorating in the first place!
My new Dr. works with 2 midwives....I am going to be working one on one with "Carol" one of the midwives, through this entire journey.
The first thing Carol did was sit with me and go over in major detail my medical history, my family med history, etc. She then asked me alot of questions, like, length of my periods, consitency, any pain with them, or with intercourse, etc. I told her about the TTC board and FF and how I have charted CM, etc. She thought it was great! She made sure that I am taking vitamins and all that too. She asked about my diet, how many sex partners in the past, etc,etc,etc..... Basically she got to know me pretty well! LOL
Then she did an exam...
She then ordered tests for me, (and coded them differently instead of "fertility testing" so my insurance company would cover it 100%!!!) WONDERFUL!!!
She send me to get blood work done to check thyroid, pituitary gland, diabetes, pcos, and a couple others that i didnt write down. (the ones i mentioned are the ones that i REALLY was hoping she would test.)
She then sent me to a radiologist to have a regular and vaginal ultrasound!
This was the MOST AMAZING thing i have done! The nurse who did the US was in her 50's and the nicest and most patient person! I was asking all kinds of questions, so she stopped and said ok, lets start from the beginning.....so she proceeded to show my every detail of my uterus and explained EVERYTHING we were looking at. I saw my blood vessels and arteries in color, and black and white. She kept making a point to say she is not the radiologist and not a dr, but was giving me her 2 cents on what we were looking at. My uterus had 2 small fluid filled cysts that she said are totally common. (she gave them a name, but i cant remember) She said that they usually go away with AF. I saw the lining of my uterus which was thick - which she said was a good thing.
THEN we looked at my ovaries! OMG this was so amazing because she was going through every detail of them and magnifying them and showing me all sides of them etc. She showed my an example of what pcos looks like on a sonogram - and i had nothing that looked like pcos. She said they are like a string of pearls wrapped around the ovary. (She also kept saying that a blood test is the final indication of pcos and she IS NOT a dr.)
I got to see the follicles on my both my ovaries. She explained and showed me my follicles and measured them, etc. I have about 9 of them on each ovary that you could "see". The biggest one was 2.2 cm, and she said that is the one that is probably going to release my next egg. I was SO HAPPY to see that i have eggs!!!! It was amazing!!
She then did a split screen and showed them next to each other, they were the same in size and had the same amt. of follicles pretty much. She said that the follicles that we could see are actually "Follicular Cysts" - which only means, they are filled with fluid. Each one of them will eventually swell until they *pop* out an egg, and either I will get pg, or have a period.
She said that the follicular cysts are not ever a concern unless they get to be a certain size. All mine were way under the size of concern. She said they usually get to about 2.5 cm (the size of a pea) right before they release the egg.
Another thing she said is that with PCOS, your ovaries are also swollen, sometimes twice the size they should be. (mine were the size of almonds which she said is normal).
SOOOOOO, now all I have to do is wait for the results to get back and my Dr will call for another appt.
I have high hopes right now! The main thing I was worried about was that I had PCOS, (which wouldnt be the end of the world by ANY means of course!!) And then the next thing I was worried about was that I was in early menopause and was running out of eggies.
I hope that all I need is some meds to correct my hormones and I will be back on track!
P.S. I have O pain on my left side today!! I havent had that in 2 months! And the left ovary is the one that had the follicular cyst that she said looks like will be the next to release the egg.
If you made it this far, then THANKS for reading!!!
I am just so happy to be on the right track, (even though i dont even have any answers yet!) LOLOLOL
At least I am getting the help I need from people who truly care!

Did your Dr speculate on any "possible" explanations besides hormonal problems? I would be relieved if I were you just to see that you have eggs and ovaries and everything looks OK.
Good Luck
Tricia
She didnt want to speculate I guess, which I also appreciate.
:)

Wow, how cool is that?! You're making me what to go get an US just to see what my insides look like. I may, you know my ins. covers that stuff at 90% of all fertility so I have an appt. with my reg OB to see how things are going and maybe start Clomid if I did not O this month, my fert. monitor shows I did have 2 Peak days this months which indicates that the LH surge was there anyways and now I think I either O'ed today or will tomorrow. I have the cramping, mostly on the left side and my cp is high, soft and open but b/c I do not temp there is no way of me knowing that I "actually" did O (I am going to start temping next month, had no idea how important it was).
That is really good news though, again, how cool it must of been to see your ovaries and follicles, I would love to know I have follicles growing just so I know that I am O'lating each month. I don't think I did last month (no symptoms at all) and this month a few signs that I maybe finally.
We'll see what the dr. thinks next week.
Good luck to you. How long have you been trying? I know it's been posted but forgot.
I think you'll be pg very soon after seeing all that, no stress anymore thinking you had PCOS.

Your post made me smile, you sound so excited. Do you know when you will get the results?
I hope this is the start of happier times for you. You really deserve that BFP. If O could be on the way, you should be BD'ing like crazy, just to make sure.
