EWCM and not ovulate?

Hi my name is jennifer and i was hoping some of you could read my situation and tell me what you think. I have been off the pill for 5 months. Before stopping this time my cycles were normally 28 days. The first three cycles since i have stopped have been 35 days and the last one was 39 days. so now i don't know what to expect. On CD14 on this cycle i had EWCM and have had it for the last three days. Does this mean that I am ovulating and that I should expect my period on CD28? Or is it possible to have EWCM and not be ovulating? Any input is greatly appreciated.

I believe that it is possible to have EWCM and not ovulate. Even when I was on the pill I had every month what seemed like EWCM mid-cycle. It usually all came out in one blob (TMI). I also had that my first month off BCP (March), and I practically felt it happen while I was at the gym. Again, only for one time. The next several months off BCP I didn't notice much EWCM at all. This cycle I had a similar CM that lasted for 3 days around O and my temperatures show that I probably did O on CD18.

If you're having EWCM and see a temperature rise 24-48 hours afterwards (if you are charting - this is my first month charting) you have Od.

I went off the pill probably around the same time as you. I have been worried that I have not been ovulating but tried not to become too consumed with that thought. If your body is producing CM and you are seeing monthly changes you're probably right on track. If you have EWCM right now on CD14 you ovulate soon, you should have a 28 day cycle. Mine are 32-34 days average since I went off bcp.

I came kicking and screaming to charting. I wasn't going to because I thought that it would make me obsess about every sign every day. I finally started charting this month so I could know when to expect AF. That's why I used OPKs this month. I figured if I knew that I didn't O until later (like CD18), I wouldn't expect AF to arrive on CD28. I feel more comfortable knowing not to expect AF until at least CD32.

Continue to be patient with your bod. It has been a struggle for me to maintain sanity in the past few months off BCP. I won't go back on the pill again.

Jennifer

It is entirely possible to have EWCM and not O, just as it is possible to O without EWCM. The CM changes are due to rise and fall of estrogen and progestrone, and O is stimulated by the rise of LH (luteinizing hormone). So they are not necessarily dependent on each other.

I have noticed the exact same thing myself. I have longer than normal cycles but get CM around day 14 so it is hard to know what to do. I figure the best thing would be to BD around day 12 (assuming a 28 day cycle) and then continue to BD until day 16 or even 18 (assuming a 32-35 day cycle). That way all the bases get covered. Believe me, it can be a BD marathon! hehe

I got pregnant with my first baby the second month of trying that way. I believe it is important to stay positive and not get too stressed about it. Good luck!
