Experience with Red Raspberry Leaf?

I am concerned because yesterday at 3dpo I had some mild cramps and a little bit of spotting. I know that it is way too early for implantation, and I never have spotting mid-cycle.

I started taking red raspberry leaf caplets on CD10 to improve the thickness of my lining. (I decided to use the caplets rather than the tea so I knew how much I was taking.) I started off with 3 caplets/day (half the recommended dosage) and then increased to 6/day after O. Yesterday, I only took 3 in the morning and did not take it in the evening because of the cramping and spotting.

I have read that rrl is supposed to "tone" the uterus (which I assume means mild contractions). I have also read that it is safe to take through the entire cycle while TTC. Some sources say it should be stopped after getting a BFP because it could cause a miscarriage while others say it is safe to take throughout pregnancy.

I am very confused! Could these mild cramps and spotting interfere with implantation? Should I stop taking it now?
Thanks in advance for any input.

Hi girls :0)

I'm just fine, I manage to keep busy somehow and have been having a tough time finding time to visit TTC. I especially have trouble with the 30-something board, as trying to acknowledge everyone once you've been gone a couple days turns into a major project! So sometimes I just read and don't manage to find the time to reply. (BTW, Krista- please feel welcome on the 30-something buddy group, we would love to have you!)

Well, I'm very paranoid of IPS these days, I don't trust anything. I always start looking and hoping to see dark veins this time in the cycle though! My IPS this cycle is painful nipples which started just a couple days after O. I've never had them so painful, I'm chalking it up to the clomid as I've never taken it before :0)

Hey ladies,

Melissa~ Glad to hear that everything is going well. :o) I hear ya!! It IS hard to keep up with the 30-something board. Everyone is SO nice and sweet so you feel like you have to respond to everyone but it takes a lot of thought and time. It can be overwhelming....but I love it. :o) Yes, Krista, please feel free to join us!!

You should definitely check out the book!! It's a calming and insightful read.

Krista~ I think I stole your IPS today. lol When I was getting into the shower I noticed a huge dark vein on one of my breasts. I don't think I've ever seen it before so I asked DH to look (he sees them more than I do! haha) and he said he's never noticed it before either. Soooo it could be new or it could be something that we're just NOW paying attention to. Ahhh...the dreaded IPS.

Oh, I spoke to a woman in the room next to me this morning when I went in for acupuncture...she said that her RE told her 8 months ago that adoption was her ONLY hope to become a mother....she started seeing my acu-ist, had acu for 3 months and she is now 14 weeks pg!! So now that is 7 out of the original 7 (from when I first started) who are now pg with her help (I'll be the 8th...I hope!!) It definitely raised my spirits!! And she was so cute...it's raining here today and she didn't want me to slip on the wet sidewalk so she walked me out to my car. Such a cute lady! :o)

I think I might break down and test tomorrow instead of Tuesday. Regardless of the results I get I'll continue to test until Tuesday. I think just being able to test tomorrow will take some of the pressure and stress off of me-- totally a head thing.

I hope you both have a wonderful weekend!! Please please please let me know if either of you decide to test early too. BFP's for ALL of us!!!

Krista~forgot to ask...are you on Facebook?

Later taters!! Have a great weekend!!

Danielle

I'm 38 and have been trying to conceive since July 2008. I had my first IUI with Femara on Feb 4th and AF (the meanie) showed up. Try and try again! :o) I was lucky enough to find my Mr. Perfect 2 years ago and we have 2 goofy but lovable pups! :o)

Danielle,

Wow, it sounds like your acu-ist really knows what she's doing. That would give me so much confidence. Hopefully you'll be her very newest success story this weekend. I've been trying to find a good deal on HPTs so I can starttesting early, but haven't found any yet, and didn't feel like ordering online, so maybe I'll just test on Monday which will be 12-13 dpo and see. I think I'll check out that book!

Good luck!

Good morning ladies,

Well, I tested first thing this morning and unfortunately, I got a BFN. :o( But, I'll keep testing until AF arrives.

I hope you two have better luck than I did!!!!

Wishing you both a wonderful weekend!!

Oh, Krista-- yes, Mum's the word on TTC on FB. I totally understand. Same here. I don't need all my nosey friends (Melissa knows who I'm talking about-- the mean girls haha) knowing my ups and downs in this journey. :o)

Baby dust and P&PT to you both!!!!!

Hello ladies,

Hope that you are both enjoying the weekend. Well, I was planning to test this morning, but I needed to pee at like 4am and I forgot to lay the test out last night. So I guess I will be waiting til tomorrow morning. I am using the First Response Early Result tests (which are kind of expensive) so I hate to waste them. I had the internet dip strips but I ran out. I should order some more of those.

Danielle~Sorry about the BFN (((Hugs))). It IS still early though so you are definitely not out. When do you plan to test again? I will be keeping my fingers crossed for a BFP!

Thanks for not mentioning TTC on Facebook. Most of them can figure it out anyway but I just don't want people asking how it is going. I don't need any more pressure.

Melissa~When are you planning on testing? Did you say Monday/Tuesday or something like that. P&PT for a beautiful BFP!

Best wishes and loads of *baby dust*

Hello ladies,

Hope that you are both enjoying your Sunday. Well, I went ahead and tested this morning (despite having a temp. drop), and sure enough it was a BFN. I am feeling disappointed but not totally surprised (especially since my temp was down). I think AF will come tomorrow as I am having more spotting today.

I am trying to focus on next cycle and putting together a strategy. I plan on starting acupuncture, and I also have an OB appointment scheduled. I assume that she will refer me to an RE. I need to figure out what our insurance covers.

Still keeping my fingers crossed for both of you... come on BFP's!

Best wishes,

Krista

Krista~ I'm sorry hun!!! I know you're disappointed. :o( But it sounds like you have a good plan of attack for next cycle. Stay positive!! Staying positive is half the battle. I really hope you like your acu-ist!! Please kup and let us know how you like it. :o)

Melissa~ I hope you have some good news for us!! :o)

AFM~ My temp dropped again today so I'm sure AF is on her way to my house right now. I'm still not sure if I'll do another round of IUI or hold off for a couple of months. I guess I'll talk to my RE and see what he thinks.

Have a great week. Hugs to you both!!

~Danielle

P.S. Krista- if you do decide to check out the 30 somethings group, my name is "Bee" on there. :o)

Hi girls,

The witch decided to show today (several days early). I could tell she was coming so at least I can move on to the next cycle. I have the acu-ist consultation on Thursday and (considering it goes well) I plan to start treatment right away. I also have a Dr's appointment scheduled, but I called the office to see if I can be seen earlier. I know that most of the blood work is done on cd3, and I would like not to wait until next cycle.

Danielle~Sorry about the temp drop. :( Why can't she just take a hint and leave us alone for 9 months! Was this your 2nd IUI? I would definitely talk to your RE. Perhaps he can adjust your med's or maybe the 3rd time is the charm?

Melissa~I agree with Danielle, hoping you have some great news to share. Come on BFP!!!!!!!!

I will introduce myself on the 30-somethings board once I am feeling less b**tchy thanks to ol' AF.

Best wishes,
Krista
