Hello all!

This is my first time and first day doing the OPK...what does it mean when the line is very faint? Anything at all? This is my 1st month off bcp's so I'm using it every day, as my cycle might be crazy and I don't want to miss O day!! :) Should I test every day or every other day? Please help! The instructions on the box are kind of vague. Also, when is the best time of day to test?

Thanks a million in advance!

I am pretty sure (don't quote me on this b/c I have limited experience with OPK's) that a faint line means ovulation will take place in 36-48 hours. You don't have to test everyday of your cycle just during your fertile time, but I can see where you would want to in your case since you don't know what your cycles are going to be like off of BCP. The best time to test is in the evening. As soon as you see you are fertile it is time to start BDing, everyday or every other day whatever is best for you. BDing the days leading up to ovulation as well as the day of ovulation increases your chances quite a bit. Good Luck and have fun with it.

Last poster was great nothing to really ad there. The darker the line the closer to O you are. Like as dark or darker than the test line can be 12-24 hours from O etc. And don't forget to factor in the lifespan of sperm. You don't necessarily have to BD on your O day for it to work.

Time, afternoons or evenings, try to test in the same time window each day you test. Don't test in the morning because there are other hormones in FMU that throw it off. Maybe limit liquids for 2 hours leading up to testing window so you get some "concentrated" urine.

Good luck.

If your test result line is faint - which I'm assuming you mean it's lighter than the control line - you are NOT going to ovulate within the next 18-36 hours.

When you get a test result line that is DARKER THAN (or just as dark as) the control line, that will be your positive result. That signifies that you will ovulate within the next 18-36 hours.
