Does anyone know if it's ok to have a flu shot?

I normally get one, but now that we're ttc (and hopefully pg!), I thought I'd ask.

Thanks in Advance!

I'm wondering the same thing. I read that it's recommended for women in their 2nd and 3rd trimester, but not recommended during the 1st trimester. I'm hoping to get one before O this month, but if I O first, maybe I'll hold off just in case. I sure don't want the flu though...

Hope someone has an answer for this one, because I was wondering the same thing! I know my MIL (who is a former nurse) will be hounding me to get one soon, and since she doesn't know we're TTC, I can't use that for an excuse.

Guess I'll just have to avoid her and her needles if it's not OK (she usually gives us flu shots herself). This is going to be tricky! :)

My company has scheduled flu shots for Wednesday. Today we received the consent form and they say NOT to get a flu shot in the 1st trimester. During the 2nd & 3rd trimester you need Dr's approval to receive the flu shot.

I now have to figure out how to skip mine without giving things away here at work. I've even thought of going in to see the nurse & coming out w/ a bandaid ~ but no shot. Am i going too far here?? LOL!

Hope this helps!

I popped onto that website someone posted last week- which I have found invaluable so far by the way- I went to I for influenza and they list a couple different flu vaccines there. Here is the link to the one I popped in the search: http://www.safefetus.com/DrugDetail.asp?DrugId=1200&TradeName=Influvac%20200/2001&TradeId=2358

Reading this(although there doesn't sound like there is a definitive answer through research) I think it should be avoided.

HTH!

I get a flu shot every year too. And althought I don't want the flu, I wouldn't want there to be a risk to the baby (if I did get pg). I remember there being a spot on the consent form asking if you are pg. I would assume that it probably wouldn't be good if they're asking that, but I really don't know much about the subject. I would maybe avoid it if you're not sure or call your doctor.

Well crap. I got my flu shot on 10/1, would not have O'd until 10/4-10/6. I guess I just have to cross my fingers. I work with a fragile population, and my gol-darn allergist shoots me up whenever he can!
