Getting discouraged with charting...

Still no CH's on FF chart (although when I entered all the same info into the chart on iVillage I got an ovulation date and it said there was a thermal shift). I know most of you prefer FF, so I'll stick with it for another couple of cycles but...
I mentioned earlier on here that I was having issues with my thermometer. After a week or so of normalcy, I would go to take it and it would give me a reading within seconds. I thought this was a little strange so I would re-take it, get a higher temp, and record that thinking it was more accurate. The result is that my chart is probably a mix of "first" temps and "second" temps. Today, I got first temp of 97.57 and it took about a minute to come up. I thought that was enough time to get an accurate temp so I recorded that. I took it a second time and got 97.76, which is indeed higher.
Should I have taken the first because it WASN'T given to me within seconds, or should I have taken the second to be consistent? I'm wondering if this issue in general is why I'm not getting CH's.
Can you also advise me on what to do in the future? When I start the next cycle I want to be much more prepared and do it right!
THANKS!

Consistency is the key to charting. I posted below that you don't have crosshairs b/c of that missing temp on positive opk day.
Anyway, use a reliable thermometer and take your temp at the same time every day before you even roll over in bed. Always be consistent with your temp taking for accuracy...and taking it again, after the first temp won't give you an accurate temp, you've been awake too long at that point.

I have to agree with the pp's. I think (not that I am an expert because this was my first time charting and temping) that since there was
I tried it and it did give me a solid vertical red line for CD 19. I feel like I'm cheating though, so I changed it back. I'm so crazy, I know.
Do you think they will eventually appear for this cycle?
