Grrr...clueless nurse in OB/GYN office..

You know...it is not a good idea to argue with me right now in my clomid-crazy hormonal state!

I called my OB/GYN office to see if I could come in for a 7dpo progesterone test...as I'm opting not to use the progesterone suppositories right now (like I had to do the last 2 cycles) in hopes that Clomid and natural prog cream will cover me.

So the nurse calls me back and asked when my last period started. I told her, and she said it was too late for a 7dpo progesterone test...that I needed to come in on CD19 through CD21. I explained to her that I did not ovulate until like CD20 and that I am now 7dpo on CD27. She said "I don't know about that. All I know is that the 7dpo test has to be done on CD19 through CD21." Moron. Oops...sorry! I'm not being nice...but is it that difficult for them to LISTEN?

And you'd think that these people would be somewhat educated and KNOW that many, many, many women do NOT ovulate on CD14. UGH!

Okay. Many I need to go relax a little. I've just been feeling down...nauseated BAD today (probably more EVIL CLOMID effects)...tired...

And it should not be so difficult to explain something to an OB/GYN nurse!

She finally realized I was not giving up and said she would go ask my doctor...she immediately came back and said, yes, you can come in and pick up the lab order for the test.

I'm actually going to go tomorrow on 8dpo because I want to go first thing in the morning before I eat to be sure I get an accurate result. Isn't that how Prog tests are supposed to be done? (I knew better than to ask the moron...umm...I mean nurse)... :) Okay...I'm really not being nice.

Sorry for the vent! But my gosh! Have any of you guys encountered problems like this?

Hey Anne,

So Sorry you're having a rough time right now. Sounds like you're having one of my days. It does get better. You Know, it amazes me at how much money a lot of nurses make and how just so clueless and insensitive some( and I emphasize SOME ) can be. I hope your tests goes well in the morning. Hopefully that cream is doing it's job. Take care and keep us posted.

Anne- I'm LOL super hard!! You sound soooo much like me, and my nurse talks. You're right though, sometimes we definetly know more about the way people cycle, they go by "text book". Hopefully she finally figured out that the prog. test should be done 7dpo and that could mean cd21 or cd22, 23, 24, you get the picture, DAH! Also I agree go in the morning when you have fasted for a while, thats also a no brainer, especially for a nurse.

Ya know, I sound mean too, but I had a doctor that was the mornon!! Good luck tomorrow, I am also on 100 mg Clomid and AM taking progesterone suppositories, the cream didn't help me much. Let me know how it works out for you.

What kind of cream are you using and where did you get it (if its not prescription) I have heard about the natural prog. creams so let us know how it works for you! DO you know anyone else who has used it?

Thanks,

I bought my progesterone cream at GNC. They come in a jar or what I bought, was little tubes in a box, (single application tubes). I put it on my wrist in the morning and then again on my abdomen at night. I did notice a change in my mid-luteal prog. numbers. I am normally like a 6.0, and the month (or 2) that I used it religiously I was about a 10. I have LPD, and I spot from O until AF. I was still spotting after using the cream even after my 7dpo prog. number were higher. Also baby aspirin and vitamin B6 should help the mid-luteal phase defect.

Also, I have seen the cream in jar at Walmart, near the vitamins and supplements. Hope this helps you out a little.

Good Luck to you!

I can't believe that nurse!!! You would think that a woman working in an OBGYN's office-let alone a nurse would understand women's cycles and how different they can be. In my hormonal clomid state I probably would have started going off on her! Oh well, at least she finally got it.

Vicki,

I'm using Emerita Progest Cream...it comes in a tube. We got it from a friend who sells natural health products, but you can get it online or in health food stores. It is important to be sure that it is real progesterone, and not just wild yam, in the ingredients. I put it on my tummy, inner thighs...really any area that has some fat! LOL!

I'll let you guys know my progesterone level tomorrow...I'm really hoping the Clomid and natural cream will have done the trick for me so I don't have to go back on the progesterone suppositories. I had a lot of side effects from the suppositories...it really irritated my skin down there which made BDing difficult (sorry, TMI!)...
