Hi everyone, I'm new to this website and TTC my first child! My name is Alexa, and to give you a little bit of background on my story. I am 23 years old and my boyfriend and I have been together for almost three and a half years. We were TTC before and gave up for some time. I grew frustrated and upset, yet too scared to make the appointment to see my gynocologist.

I was scared he'd judge me for not being married, scared there was something seriously wrong with me. Well in June, we decided to start trying again. I went 42 days without my period (I have very irregular periods, anywhere from 30-60 day cycles) and was so disheartened every time I took a pregnancy test and it came up negative. So I finally worked up the nerve (with my boyfriend's encouragement) to make that doctors appointment.

My period finally came and as of yesterday, I have just finished my first round of clomid. My gyno says that I am not ovulating, and that clomid should help. I hated clomid! Did anyone else?! Ugh it was awful. I was having hot flashes, nausea, fatigue, irritability, and I was unable to get a good nights sleep! My body is really sensitive to meds though, so I kind of expected it. I'm still feeling some of the side effects today too! (hopefully this is all normal) In about two days I'm going to start OPKs and I'm already checking my cervical mucus (right now it is just sticky). I go back to my gyno on the 15th for a test to check my progesterone levels to see if I ovulated? I am so excited.. I hope this works and makes me ovulate! Glad to join the message board sorry I wrote so much lol hi all!

Welcome Alexa! Did your dr run tests prior to prescribing clomid? Is this an unmonitored cycle?

Good luck :)

Thank you! Yes my doctor tested my blood, ultrasound, and my boyfriends semen. What do you mean by unmonitored cycle?

In a monitored cycle the dr monitors follicular development pre-O to see how your body is responding to the clomid & may or may not do a trigger shot too.

No but I suppose I could still start this month because I know I definitely did not O yet. Out of the few months that I have done OPKs I have only gotten a positive O test once (on CD16).

But like I said, my boyfriend and I stopped trying for six months this year. We just started again in June and I had a 42 day cycle and did not O. The only thing I started doing this time in addition to the OPK's is checking my cervical mucus.

If you can bbt chart I'd totally recommend it so you can better understand your cycle. I don't always get a positive opk either because my surge is really short but since I temp, I know when I O...

Happy bd'ing :)
