How do you stay positive about TTC?

I know that for me, its far too early in this process to assume something's wrong, but....when everything is timed right and it just doesn't happen, my mind wanders. The only thing I can say is that with each cycle that begins, we look into things more. Cycle 1 we just went for it, no testing. Cycle 2 we did the day 3 b/w, my sono (where we saw the cysts) and DH's s/a. This cycle I'm repeating the b/w (prolactin was slightly high) and doing the HSG. Some might say we're doing all this testing unnecessarily or too early, but it really gives me piece of mind, and my doc is totally supportive.

I know we haven't been trying long (only 2 or 3 cycles) but it's so hard for me to not get down in the dumps about it. Last cycle I thought we really did everything right-on. I know that sometimes it just takes awhile, but....it's hard not to get discouraged.

Cycle 1 - BFN. Diagnosed with PCOS.
Day 3 Blood Work - Appears to be normal, with slightly high prolactin. Must re-do next cycle.
Cycle 2 - DH's s/a came back normal. BFN - AF arrived early.

I know where you are coming from as DH and I have been trying for 14 months now. I do have my ups and downs depending on the day. I think that it is great that you have a doctor willing to do the test early on. I am trying to get my doctor going with all the test. I know that I have had cysts on the right side and want to keep an eye on that. Its very common to not get pregnant right away. I have been doing a lot of reading and the majority says that 6 months is the average. So I think that you are getting to the mark where you should see a BFP soon. You just need to look forward to that time.

Thanks ladies!! I'm trying really hard to just stay positive and focus on the good things. Some days are easier than others...

Yes! You are saying exactly what I've been thinking! I'm 36, so it's very hard not to get discouraged and freaked out. But we've been trying for only two months, which I know is not long, but I have the same thoughts as you do with the whole "we couldn't have timed everything more perfectly this cycle and it still didn't happen :-(" I was extremely upset last month, our first cycle TTC, but this month has been easier. I think it's b/c I realized just how much of it is out of my hands. We can do all this timing and keeping track of cycles, etc., but ultimately one good swimmer has to make it upstream to the right spot at the right time. I believe that's mostly in God's hands, and certainly nothing I can fully control. One thing I try to do is lurk on several of the pregnancy boards, esp. Pregnant After 35. It reminds me that it happens all the time, but it may take time. Sometimes if people put how many cycles or months they TTC'd in their siggy, I add all of them up and get an average. The averages I've gotten are usually 9 or 11 months. So I tell myself that I can get upset when it's month #9.
