How long do you plan to TTC?
| Fri, 01-02-2009 - 7:17am |
I was just wondering how long everyone plans to TTC before you throw in the towel? (ie 6 months, 1 yr, 2 yrs, as long as it takes)
For the "long timers" here, did you have a time line, and once you hit that decided to extend it?
I am just starting my TTC journey for #2, and I have a plan set, but there are things that I didn't really take into consideration, like m/c. I don't know how I would handle that.

Hi Stephanie,
That's a harder question that it first seems. Like you said there are other factors such as m/c that initially we never think of.
All I know is that if I haven't got a BFP by 9th April I'll be going back to my GP bc it will be 1 year, and at the 1 year point my GP can refer me / us to a subfertiliy specialist.
After than I really don't know.
I suppose that there is also age to take into consideration.

hey Stephanie,
TR~ Nov.2007
started on prenatal vitamins
I'm willing to go as long as it takes to have another baby (I guess 5 years is my limit)

Pregnant with #2
BFP on 11 DPO
HCG 17 DPO = 2,000
HCG 20 DPO = 10,979
HCG 23 DPO = 25,588 (u/s showed gestational sac)
27 DPO = u/s showed baby and hearbeat! YAY!
Interesting question.

I want to try for as long as it takes. Being a Mommy is something I have wanted for as long as I can remember. It is only our 3rd cycle, trying "naturally" and my Dr. did tell me that if after 6 months of trying, we can come in and start getiing tested and stuff. I am hoping it happens soon for us, but like the others have said, at first we don't think about mc. I never really did until I started coming to the board, and it is something that is definatly in the back of my mind. While we all try to be so positive about everything, we are only human and worrying is our nature. I haven't experienced a mc myself, and I have no clue how I would ever handle such a thing, no matter how early or late it happened. I am so sorry to those of you who have lost your babies.
As for how DF feels about
We've already been diagnosed with some infertility problems after 9 months of trying. The Dr told us to try naturally for 3 more cycles, then it'll be 4 rounds of Clomid/IUI cycles. If that doesn't work, I think we'll stop there. IVF really is not a realistic option for us; we'd rather save the money and adopt a little one
Hi Stephanie,
We going for broke (literally)...as long as it takes or time runs out for me....which is only a couple years away.
We already have 3 kids, my youngest is 5. And up until a couple of months ago we were happy with our 3 and didn't want anymore. But than we got pregnant and m/c, so we decided to give it another try with TTC. I haven't really talked to DH about how long to try, but in my mind i was thinking of TTC for 12 cycles, and then call it quits if i don't get pg in that time frame.
