How long does implantation bleeding last

I was wondering if any of you who have experienced implantation bleeding could let me know how long it lasted? I am 9 - 10 dpo (I don't chart, but this is based on CM) and starting this morning I have noticed some brownish blood when I wipe and just a very small amount one time today on my underwear (sorry if TMI!) I am also experiencing some nausea / indigestion, which is what I experienced last time I was pregnant before I had BFP (unfortunately I m/c in June at 6.5 wks) - I did not have implantation bleeding last time (maybe this means it will stick better this time!) From what I have read on this site, it seems that the timing of this bleeding and the small amount / color fits really well with this being implantation bleeding?!?! How long after you had your implantation bleeding did you do HPT? My period is due 8th or 9th, but I think I may test on Sunday. I really hope I am pregnant, so I'm thinking sticky baby dust thoughts!!!

Thanks,

More information; I thought I was having implantation spotting yesterday; had it on and off all day and then late in the afternoon started heavier bleeding which lasted all evening and still on and off this morning. AF isn't due until Monday or Tuesday and it doesn't seem like normal AF - what is up with this?? Possible chemical pregnancy? I tested yesterday, BFN, but it was not FMU and was also 3 or 4 days before AF was due, so may have just been too early. Guess this month wasn't meant to be, but if this really is AF, then my lutuel phase would have been too short (8 or 9 dpo) to support a pregnancy. Anyone experienced anything similar and have any answers??

TIA,

Hi Jenny, Sorry to hear of your loss. I also m/c, mine was Feb. 10 weeks w/ twins.

I had implantaton bleeding on and off for about 5 days. it was brown and was about 6 days before my period was supposed to arrive. I hope this helps. the dr told me that that was normal. implantation bleeding starts about 5 days after conception is what my OB said.

I was looking up the same information about implantation bleeding. I have been trying since Feb. and get the brownish discharge right before my period. I never had that till iI started trying. My Doctor says its normal that your body goes through cycles. I test on the 10, but started to get the brownish tint stuff again.

I know this really didn't answer your question but I hope it helped to know that someone else is out there.

Is your lutueal phase always this short...or is this new..the reason I ask is because I had 30cd and would ovulate late usually around day 19..so when I lost my first baby I went to a specialist and I was diagnosed with corpus lutueal defect...and had to have progesterone shots to support a pg...as far as the implantation bleeding another woman said it best with the 5 dpo rule..and it can be on and off...just was curious??

I'm not entirely sure what the duration of my lutueal phase typically is. I don't chart or use OPK, but have recently tried to monitor CM and seem to have EWCM at cd11 and cd12 the past 2 months, so with a 25/26d cycle, should be a good lutueal phase (if I am reading my CM / predicting ovulation right!) I got pregnant on our first time of trying once I went off the pill with a 25d cycle (after waiting 3 months for my cycles to normalize). I have always had short cycles - 25 or 26 days, but this is the first in recent history that it has been that short (22 days); assuming this is AF, which I guess it is :(! My first pregnancy I m/c at 6.5 weeks; my doctor said it looked liked it started out well, but then stopped developing. I thought if you had a lutueal phase defect that you were not even able to get pregnant? Just curious, how far along were you when you m/c? I know my doctor has told me once I see a BFP to call right away and they will start monitoring my hCG and progesterone levels. Thanks for your input!

It isn't necessarily hard to get pg with lutueal phase defect ( not saying that someone wouldn't have a hard time to get pg with this condition) and definetly not impossible...with me..when the defect took place..it just meant there wasn't enough progesterone released by the corpus luteum ( because the corpus luteum gives you progesterone until your placenta takes over in 2nd trimester) there to sustain a pg..and levels would dimish and I would lose the baby..I lost mine at almost 12 weeks...few days short of..but with me...I bled brownish discharge for 7 days and the baby took several days to die...I would have an u/s and the baby would be fine in spite of bleeding..then by third u/s baby was dead no heartbeat...sorry that sounds blunt..but it was hard for me to accept it myself...I believe that doctors should test progesterone levels right off the bat..because it is a cheap test..and can help determine outcome of pg..but it is contreversial with doctors if this actually helps at all (progesterone therapy)..but from what I have read..it is important..and I switched doctors till I found one that wanted to do it my way...I would definetly suggest charting...because it will help you and your doctor along..especially if you need to go to the next step...

Thanks much for your input Angelia. I hope your efforts to conceive are succesful soon and it sounds like you are much better off with your new doctor!!! I am so sorry to hear about your loss; it really sucks how many women have to go through a m/c!
