How many days from Temp. drop to AF?
| Thu, 09-11-2003 - 5:21pm |
All you veteran charters, I have question for you. When you get the temp drop before AF, does that mean she will show in the next 24-48 hours or just that she'll come sometime? Does anyone know? I am new to charting with temps, and had a huge temp drop today (.6 degrees) but AF isn't due until at least Sunday, maybe even next week sometime. Am I out for this month? Can I still hope? I was planning on testing Sun. but don't want to waste a test if that dip in temps means AF is coming.
Thanks.

The basal body temp is the lowest temperature of a healthy person, taking immediately after waking. The BBT usually varies from 36.2 to 36.3C during menses and for about 5-7 days afterward. There is a slight drop in temp around ovulation, with a slight rise after ovulation because of increasing progesterone levels. The temp remains elevated until 2-4 days before menstruation. Then it drops. This drop and rise is called the thermal shift. The entire month of temperatures must be charted to fully understand.

So, it looks like I'm officially out this month. (DH knew all along, but I was hoping anyway.) I guess it's on to cycle 6 if AF would just hurry up and get here now that I know she's coming.
Once again. Thanks for answering.
