Hi ladies, I've been doing some reasearch over in the April board about how morning sickness REALLY feels (bc ya never know until you have it!) and this is what they've said.

I was just curious and thought it was really interesting! :)

Morning sickness sucks, I remember. I didn't have morning sickness, I had all-day sickness. However, I only threw up in the morning. I threw up almost every morning the first 4 months, about once every week after that. I lived on watered-down gaterade because I didn't feel like I could keep anything else down. I had cravings for certain foods, which was the only thing I would feel like I could eat. I had to suck on mint candy all the time, because for some reason it settled my stomach. Nothing made it better, I tried arm bands, crackers before getting up, etc. I think motion sickness is the best comparison of what I had. That constant state of nausea, and the smell of food making your stomach turn. I told my DH if the sickness stayed so bad the entire pregnancy that I wouldn't have any more kids. Thankfully, around 4 months it started easing. I'm partially scared to have another child, because I don't know how I can care for my DD if I get that sick again. They say every pregnancy is different though...

That was a good question and I thought it interesting that everyone went with #4. However, I'd like to mention (especially for the benefit of the first-timers on this board) that there is a huge range of experience of m/s, from those who never feel a twinge of it to the other extreme of those who are sick/vomiting constantly, although the worst cases are the ones you always hear about. My own experience was that I felt a little "green" (mild motion sickness would probably be the best comparison) in the late afternoons or when I didn't eat for a long while, but that was it - no vomiting. Anyway, I just wanted to add my two cents because I know everyone is trying so hard TTC and I don't want them to be at the same time dreading being pg.

Good luck to everyone!

I guess #4 is the closest of the choices to what I felt when I was pg with my dd. However, I would add that lots of women (including myself) also had lots of air in their stomachs...like little burps always bubbling up to your throat. That sensation, in itself, was enough to make me extremely nauseous. It got to the point that if I felt a burp coming I would head for the bathroom just in case I lost my breakfast.

Sorry if TMI, but wanted to add the stomach gas factor. I agree that m/s can be different for every woman, though.

I hope that I'm not as sick with my next pg as I was with the first, but I do hope for just a little m/s because it lets you know that the baby is doing fine in there and that you're still pg when you might not have any other symptoms. :-)

Trish! Oh, i didn't even think I would be scaring anyone off! I feel so bad now! I guess I should have mentioned what you said, sorry! :) I guess in my quest to know EVERYTHING, lol, I need to be more considerate.
