Can having Hypothyroidism (that is currently untreated) have a negative affect on HCG levels? Like make them so low a HPT won't read even though you are pregnant?
I've never heard of that sort of interference...I don't think that would happen. I think if you were pg, the hormones would rise and if they were rising, they would be picked up by the test. Try waiting a little longer and then test again. Good luck!
Do you have hypothyroidism? If so, why aren't you being treated for it? The thyroid produces TSH which is integral in lots of the hormonal systems of the body. And I would imagine left untreated, it will mess up a woman's fertility.
I've had hypothyroidism for about 12 years now. It was hard to get it under control in the beginning but I'm fine now. Your thyroid also helps regulate your metabolism, and can make you feel lethargic and depressed if not treated.
So, if you think you have this... PLEASE see a doctor and start treatment. It will make a big difference in your life, not just fertility.
I have hypothyroidism too. From what my doc told me, it wouldn't affect you hpt, but it does make you more likely to miscarry. Also, pregnancy will make you more hypo, so please see an endocrynologist asap. It's not too hard to get under control. You'll need blood work, and it will take some time to get the dose right. If you're pregnant, you'll need to adjust it a few times anyway. The pill is tiny, and even the brand name meds are not very expensive. I've been on them 12 years like another poster. There's also a thyroid message board in the health section on ivillage, FYI. Good luck
From what I've heard, the Celiac/Gluten is related to hyper, not hypo. My brother is hyper (between the 2 us we'd have a normal thyroid) He's trying to get his under control with diet, just as you suggest. Hyper can also definitely affect fertility.

I thought I'd but in here and ask if any of you have read about the connection between Celiac Disease/Gluten Intollerance and hypothyroid?
