Hi, I'm new and I've been TTC for 3 cycles now. On Monday I will know if AF comes to town or not. But if I do breakdown and buy a HPT is FMU necessary? I constantly tested myself for the first two cycles, what an emotional rollercoaster! Any advise would be appreciated.

Your chances of getting a bfp before afnw is better with FMU- but even still some women, like myself, don't get those bfp's even at 14dpo. So, if you're dying to test and can't wait till Monday- definitely use FMU, it will make sure your urine has the absolute most hcg concentration build up possible (as long as you're not like me and get up to use the potty during the night- lol!) GL!!!!!!!!!! ++++++++++ PV's coming your way!! LOLove, Connie

Hello, first of all what is FMU? and secondly does getting up to potty make that much difference? When do you test, if you do, for O?

Madam, FMU is first morning urine. It lowers the hormone levels in your urine if you empty your bladder in the night. I believe most instructions for HPT's say if you can't use FMU, to hold the urine for 4 hours.

Testing for ovulation with opk's is different. I think those work better if you don't use FMU and test later.

Hope this helps,
