I went to a clinic here and they wanted a pee test, not I wasn't wanting a pee test done cause I know I couldn't pull one off, because I had went pee this morning and didn't have to go and also cause I wasn't holding it for 4 hours. Well they said give them some kind of sample anyways. BFN of course like I thought. The DR there said there is no way I was PG and didn't want me to get blood work done. I mean my temps are up CP is still high, still got creamy CM, and all those IPS or RPS. He didn't even want to hear anything about my charting or stuff like that he just smurked when I said something about it. Anyone get a - in a DR's pee test and still pull a BFP??? I am very down right now. I hate it so much that this DR is so nasty.

Jess, I have no advice on the pee versus blood test part, sorry. But that makes me SO MAD! What is WITH these doctors! That just brings back so many angry feelings! It reminds me of the time my Gyn pretty much forced me to get a depo shot, and when I came back three months later and said "No thank you. I'd like to go back on the Pill," she screamed at me, "You'll be back here for an abortion in two months!"

They assume we know absolutely nothing about our bodies, and when we explain that we do, they laugh at us and think we're obsessive and misinformed!

I feel so sorry for you, Jess! I hope 1. That the ladies have some advice on the pee test thing, and 2. You can find someone respectable and educated who can help you out with a blood test.

Oh, that makes me SOOOO ANGRYYYY!

Some Dr.'s are idiots. I live in Canada, where there is a huge shortage of Dr.s, in my city there are 60,000 people without Dr.s! I am one of them, so I have to go to clinic's which can take days to get into, or outpatients which is never less then 10 hours. Every Doctor I have incountered in unfortuneatly overworked and over tired, and really couldn't care less that I am having problems TTC. It sucks, I trust my instincs (sp?) and pray I get a sympathetic nurse.

I was lucky when I lived in Canada cause i had been with the same DR's Office since I was born. Of course I had 2 different DR till the time I moved to the states (november 2002) It sucks how much of a shortage there is!!!

Those tests at the doctor's office can often times be LESS sensitive than the ones on the shelf of your local grocery store! That doctor sounds like a jacka$$ to me (pardon my language!). If you requet a blood test, that is what you should get. I so hate the doctors out there that FORGET they provide a service to us that WE PAY FOR! UGH! Anyway, I'm sorry your time there was wasted w/that doctor. Wishing you all the best!!

Hi Jess,

I would like to tell you that I have known a couple of ladies that have had the dr's preg. tests be BFN, and even the B/T's too! One lady in particular didn't get a BFP until AF was late for about 5-6 weeks. I don't know how common it is for the tests to show neg results for that long, but it's not impossible! It just depends on how fast your body produces the HCG hormone. How late are you? Has your AF ever been this late before?

I would go to another dr if I were you...preferrably an ob/gyn if possible.

Good luck!

It's time to find yourself a new doctor. Remember ladies your doctor works for YOU... not the other way around. You don't like the treatment it's time to let the door kick him/her in the butt on the way out.

A quanitiative blood test is the most accurate test we have to find out if you are pregnant or not. The doctor's urine test is one of the weakest sensitivity tests out there. The ones you buy in the store are MUCH better than a doctor urine test.

Go back and demand that they perform a quanitiative blood test. It's your right and they should comply.

You know, ladies, the only time I've had success with a doctor was when I put as my emergency contact my mother, Dr. Surname. I did it because she is a doctor (of Economics- wink) and it immediately seemed to make a difference. Suddenly, the doc was very interested in my research and my opinions. She'd say things like "Now you know that you'll have to....oh, never mind. Your mother's a doctor, so you probably know all that." And I still felt comfortable asking questions, but she started treating me like a partner, not an ignorant boob. And all I had to do was lie a little at the beginning. She asked what my mother practiced, and I say, "Oh, she was just a GP. She's retired now."

I know it's not the most honest approach, but it's the first time I've been treated with respect at the office, so I think the benefit to me outweighs the naughtiness of the deceit.

Shh..don't tell my doc.

YES. 3 negative pee tests about 2 weeks after AF was missed. I got a blood test done and it was possitive. (Much to the clinic's shock, I think.)

My dh IS a doctor and I've noticed the same thing. My opinions and questions are never dismissed. Of course, I also agree with the other poster - your doctor works for you and you should accept anything other than complete respect. Speaking as a wife who went through med school with her dh and spent time with all his physician-to-be friends, not every doctor is a good one. Even if they graduate at the bottom of their class, you're still a physician. If you don't think your physician is listening to you, find someone who will. I'm lucky to have an ob who will tell me if he thinks I'm being hysterical but who listens anyway :)

about doctors graduating at the bottom of their class. My DH is a nurse and his is constantly telling me how there are A, B, and C doctors.... yet they are ALL doctors!

Not to mention just because that might be an A doctor doesn't mean they have a good bedside manner ... and if they don't have that then I don't want them to treat me. I am OUT the door if I treated poorly.
