I need some help! Could I be pregnant?

Hi there! I'm new to all of this but am needing some advice..

I have been on birth control for the past 6 years. My cycle has been exactly on target for all this time. I quit taking my birth control a little over a month ago. After I quit taking it, I still had my regular period cycle at the time I normally would.

I am unsure as to if my period will still be on the same schedule now that I am off.

I have a fertility tracker that I am now using. If things are still normal ((as they were when I was on BC), my calendar predicts that ovulation would have been 8 days ago. MY husband and I were intimate on the day of ovulation.

For the past 5 days, I've been gassy, having headaches, lots of vaginal discharge and now today, I've been having crampy/tight feelings in my pelvic region. Therefore, I went out and bought a pregnancy test and it came back saying not pregnant. I'm not sure if it was just way too early to tell or if these are even signs that I could be pregnant. When should I test next? According to my calendar, I'm scheduled to start my period in 6 days. Should I wait till then? I keep thinking yes, but then wonder if this is the right schedule for me to begin with since I just got off my birth control. Anyone have any advice? I'm so new to all of this and I'm reading different things everywhere. Help please!?!?

Sure there is a chance you could be pregnant but 8 days is just way too early to get a BFP. wait till you are expecting AF and test again...you should go back to normal very shortly after BCP but it could take a few months too...GL to you..

You're right, this can all be very confusing! Basically, all of the symptoms you are experiencing are the result of progesterone, the hormone that is dominant in the 2nd half of your cycle (after O). It is responsible for pre-af symptoms & once you are pg, it helps to sustain a healthy pregnancy. Bcp interfere with your body's hormones so these would not be noticeable while you're on the pill. Plus, when ttc EVERYTHING is noticeable!

Your body needs to have enough hcg in its system to register a bfp. This doesn't happen until a few days after implantation, which generally happens 5-10 days after ovulation, so *if* you o'd 8 days ago, there's a chance you haven't implanted yet. Many women here like to test at 10dpo. If you can hold out to 12 you have a better chance to get a positive if you're prego.

As for the fertility tracker, they assume everyone has a 28 day cycle & that everyone O's on cd 14 & has a 14 day luteal phase (the time from O-af). Most women here do not have a *normal* cycle. We can see O from cd 11 & into the early 20's & lp's ranging from 10-16. Using a fertility tracker alone to get pg isn't a good idea.

Fingers crossed for beginners luck!

Early pregnancy symptoms are so much like PMS. You might be pregnant, or it might just be your body learning how to deal with progesterone and PMS again.
