Okay, I had a positive OPK on the 16th AND the 17th and a negative on the 18th. So when did I ovulate? Does the postive on the 17th mean I DIDN'T ovulate on the 16th and the negative on the 18th mean I ovulated on the 17th? OMG, am I confusing ya'll, because I sure as hell am confusing myself. To add to the insanity here ladies, for your info, the OPK on the 16th was darker then the CL and the OPK on the 17th was just as dark as the CL. Also, on the 16th, I started with the O twinges/cramping.

Anyways, with that being said, how many DPO does that make me? If I'm figuring this out correctly and I ovulated on the 17th, that would make the 18th 1DPO.....is that right? OR is the positive on the 17th mean that I'll ovulate on the 18th which will make the 19th 1DPO. Oh Lord, put me in the padded room NOW!! This is just too crazy!:o)

Sounds like you and I are on the same boat! I got a + OPK on the 16th (which was also CD16 for me). This + went along with ovulatory pain (particulary a stabbing pain in my left side at about 7 pm), and my last day of lubricative vaginal sensation. My thermal shift happened the next day, so I figured I had ovulated on the 16th.

But just for fun, I took another OPK on the 17th. It was also positive. This went along with the fact that I still had EWCM that day, and on the 18th.

Initially FF marked my O date as CD16. A couple of days ago, FF changed its mind and moved it to CD18. Then I downloaded the Ovusoft free trial (this software is based on TCOYF), and it's still giving me 16.

Without seeing your chart or anything, I don't think I can really speculate too much. I've just kind of thrown my hands in the air and said "who knows?" I'm inclined to believe the Ovusoft number, since I at least understand where it came from (by reading TCOYF). FF just explains its calculations of O date as if it's "magic" and they don't want to give away the formula.

Here's my wacky chart (and both + OPKs) if you want to take a look:

Good luck to you!

I hope this helps with everything. I wanted to break down the ovulation for you into a few different sections:

OPKs - When you get the darkest line in the test section. It is saying you'll O in the next 24-36 hours. I usually start the BD the day I start getting a line, just in case. OPKs are VERY error friendly b/c we are guessing as to which line is our darkest. I know a lot of people swear by them, but I just use them to confirm what my temp and CM are saying.

O Pains- Most O pains start occuring a few days before. So it's hard to tell when you O exactly by the pains.

CM - Very shortly after you O your CM dries up. The EWCM and Watery Cm usually occur a couple of days before you O. The last day of the most fertile CM is your peak day for the BD. Odds have it that you actually O on the next day.

Temps - The day you see your temp spike it means you've already Oed.

Tami-

I think FF didn't give you an O date on the 16th b/c you tested ++++ on your OPK. You shouldn't get a + on an OPK the day you O, also the CM is of fertile quality after Ovusoft says you Oed. But your temps looks like you Oed when Ovusoft said you did. I'm not really sure what to tell you on that. I'm sorry.

I hope I haven't confused you guys any. Please let me know if you want any more information!

Thank you so much Cat! I can see why now that they tell you to STOP testing as soon as you get the FIRST positive on the OPK. It just causes such confusion when you don't. Anyways, it sounds to me that I ovulated on Monday then since you say you shouldn't get a positive OPK on the day you ovulate. That would put me at 8DPO which is exactly waht the Ovusoft software has me at.

Thanks for the help,

Heather
