If progesterone is low 7dpo that pretty much means BFN, right?

I got my 7 DPO bloodwork done to test progesterone levels and the nurse called and said it is a little low. She didn't tell me the number. Anyway, I knew it would be low since I've had the test before, just not with my new doctor. I guess she wanted her own test done. Since then I've taken my progesterone supplement, I just won't take it as long as usual...I'll do 5 days instead of 10 since I started late due to the test. I felt like we had a decent shot this month, but since my progesterone was low at 7 dpo, I'm assuming a BFN is inevitable, right? Ugh. Now the doc wants to try clomid. I think that's probably as far as I'll go with this and TTC. Hopefully it will work for us. After almost a year and a half, I'm just getting numb to it all. :/

I suppose that makes sense. I am supposed to take it CD18-28 (basically 4dpo-14dpo) then test. If it's negative I stop the progesterone and wait for AF, if it's positive I'm supposed to continue the supplements (with the intent that it helps the bean stay stuck).

Two months ago (first cycle TTC after last m/c) we had decided that I wouldn't go on the supplements, that if I got a BFP I would go in for betas and if it was low I would start them. That month I ended up spotting for three days before AF so we decided to start the supplements as a precaution, since it's been low before (plus the two early losses). Each doc is different. Either way I hope you get your BFP soon!

Oh, I won't take it wrong. I have questioned that myself. My doc has me taking it for 10 days after O to basically prevent early spotting that i was having. She prescribed it before she did her own progesterone test, so I think her reason for letting me take it is to stop spot. I am supposed to then wait for AF and if she doesn't show, test. I think her reason for trying clomid next is a stronger O which will also help
progesterone I think. I don't know. I know this is how several women here take the progesterone. Also, if I don't stop it, won't it just prolong AF showing if she's destined to show? If I do luck up and get a bfp, I will def be calling my doc ASAP to check my numbers. Thanks for the info though; that has crossed my mind before. I need to ask about that.

If you are on progesterone because it's low, shouldn't you test first before you stop taking it? If you were pg and stopped taking it before you found out, your progesterone could get too low to sustain the pregnancy?

I'm not trying to tell you what to do, please don't get offended (I think we've both been on here long enough and "know" each other well enough for that). It's just that I've had 3 m/c last year and with at least two of them there is a chance that they might have stuck if my progesterone was higher. I would just hate for you to stop taking it, get a positive test a few days later, and regret having stopped the progesterone. Even though I know how much it sucks to see that BFN if that's the case.

Please, please don't take this the wrong way!!!

I wouldn't automatically assume you're out with the low numbers either Suz. Fx'd af stays far, far away!! And you too spot!!!

If not, hopefully the clomid will give you a stronger O & get the job done. It sucks that the journeys been so freaking long :(

I would not count yourself out until AF comes. Maybe the progesterone knocked AF out. If not then I hope the clomid works for you. Good luck and keep us posted how things are going.

Well, I expect AF a couple of days after stopping progesterone, so if I haven't seen her on Thursday, I might test. I hate testing and getting BFNs, so I try not to test at all unless AF is late, which doesn't really happen. :)

If your last pill is today when are you testing?

I've got everyting crossed for you! If this month isn't it, I REALLY hope clomid does the trick!! I know it's hard, but try to keep those spirits up!

Thanks everyone. I take my last progesterone pill today, so not too much longer to wait. I think I MAY have seen a tad of brown on the TP this morning, but it was early and I was sleepy so I don't know really. If it was, I know I'm out.
Maybe starting the Clomid will be what I need to finally get my BFP.

Progesterone numbers mean nothing until you are actually pregnant! Try not to worry about them while you're in the 2WW. Believe me I know how you feel I am beginning to be numb to this all as well... hang in there... (((HUGS)))
